One of the great parts about growing up as a Gen Xer was Dolly Parton was EVERYWHERE when we were kids. She was on the radio, showing up on television, in great movies. And no one was ever like "You know who I'm fucking sick of? That Dolly Parton." A glorious time to be alive.

No you're right. Like she's been a larger than life icon my entire existence! I think a rewatch of 9 TO 5 is in order tonight. I've been wanting to see that again anyway as it's been years.

Kenny, Dolly, and the Muppets. The cross-generational appeal was immense in the ‘70s. Us kids loved her as mush as our parents did! She’s been a wonder to me since I could see and hear movies and music.

I mostly knew her growing up for the jokes about her. They were ubiquitous in the early 80s. What does Dolly Parton sing in the bathtub? Islands in the Stream. Now I mostly know her for all the good stuff she's done outside the world of entertainment.
