“Shot dead” is passive. “murdered” names the actor. Words matter, especially when the state is pulling the trigger.

Nah. We call "execution" the act itself when somebody doesn't give a chance to the victim to fight back but they use their weapon, against an unarmed person in an inhumane, unlawful, purposeful manner with the goal of ending their lives! Words don't only mean one thing one way. You didn't know that?
Certainly murder, but also . . . Summary executions have been practiced by governments and paramilitary organizations during both peacetime and war, and is usually associated with war crimes and political persecution. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summary...
In coming months, as facts come to light and fascist thugs face justice, I would expect sources like BBC News to report the murder convictions and call the crime what it was. Meanwhile, they will probably use broader language that reflects the limited scope of what they know with absolute certainty.
ICE agents sprayed chemical agents in Alex Pretti's face, knocked him to the ground, took his gun away, held him down and shot him several times. INTENTIONAL PREMEDITATED MURDER. JD Vance, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem are accessories after the fact and must be charged with conspiracy to commit murder
Let's try to honor Alex Pretti (who was clearly murdered by Trump's walking violations of the Constitution) all across America. Looking for a way to do so this week in Central Virginia? Here's one . . . bsky.app/profile/vafo...
Oppose #ICE in Central VA? Hanover County's (HC) Bd of Supervisors has 30 days to respond to a request to turn a 43 acre HC site & warehouse into an ICE "processing center." A protest is set for 1/28/26 at 5:30 PM before the Board's next meeting at the HC Court Complex. www.vpm.org/news/2026-01...

True. Flooding the zone still works, even when trying to stay within the facts. www.yahoo.com/news/article...
That’s a perfectly acceptable headline by the BBC. The use of the word ‘murder’ cannot be applied until the murderer is arrested on ‘suspicion of murder’ and then found guilty. The phrase “shot dead” is factually correct, leaving the viewers to decide for themselves what happened. (Which was murder)
