Currently working on one of my favorite pieces ever: The Hater’s Guide To Oracle. This company is so stupid and Larry Ellison has bet the farm on OpenAI having $300 billion to give it over five years. Larry Ellison is H.R. Geiger’s Jerry Stiller and he’s rigged his company to blow

That’s a very good question! It does make a lot of money so I guess they could sell it or beg Silver Lake or MGX or ByteDance for cash. Honestly not sure who keeps the revenue from it either. Either way it’s gonna run out of money at some point and the question is when bsky.app/profile/bean...

Even if this happens it would burn the stock alive and Ellison’s net worth along with it. It would also require a way to make the $240bn in lease payments while. It would also be for literally one company. Political poison even for Trump, and hard to do financially bsky.app/profile/6min...

He burned his Hawaiian island to the ground. It follows the pattern: 6 ex-wives, personality disorders, sued for funding genocide, largest antitrust trial in US history, insider trading, holding Project 2025's database, moving hos company to Texas, polluting the planet, & a truly, terrible human.

An Oracle story from the view of a startup attorney: 1/ In enterprise tech agreements, large customers will often seek to restrict the ability of the vendor to assign the contract. Their theory is ‘we are signing a deal with you because we want to deal with you, not someone else.’

2/ when you’re a startup, though, you want to preserve the right to exit into an acquisition which, under the laws of some states (or the terms of some M&A transactions) could be construed as an assignment.

I really dont know if they have the money, let alone the political capital to even try. These aren't banks, this happened before, the sums are literally insane and the companies are black holes that produce nothing but inept PR and slop.

I'm with you on how irredeemable the AI industry is. But the sheer capital flowing into AI construction is functionally keeping the US out of recession, the "magnificent seven" are carrying the stock market, and the AI bosses have Trump admin connections.
