No big deal just a solar eclipse as seen from the moon streamed to us here on Earth by astronauts who are farther away from their home planet than any human has ever been

I still haven't got over the New Horizons photo of the far side of Pluto as it eclipsed the Sun and revealed that it has an atmosphere, and that was in 2005. FFS!!! The far side of Pluto!!!!

Imagine the feeling of their perspective right now. How utterly tiny and useless and impotent a creature like trump must seem to them by comparison. Oh, to feel that majesty and wonder crushing the contempt of the orange idiot into near nothingness.

Then put down your phone and throw out your computer. Space exploration gave you these things, and you don't want to pay for it, then show us how you do without. Honestly, just to use this washed-out argument is an insult to your own brain. Read a book.

Paraphrase of something I just heard them say: "If you've ever seen the spotlight on the top of the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas, this is what it wants to be when it grows up."

It’s kinda cool. I barely remember NASA and the 1970s Moon shot(s). I’ve seen a lot of things over the years. And, yes, I held my breath after take-off RIP crew of the Columbia.

Nosy neighbour checking in: Howcome so much taxpayers' money is invested in helping Elon blow up empty rockets to disrupt air travel in the Caribbean when a legacy entity like NASA can actually send real people around the moon and back safely? Prolly for half the price.

Guess I’m the only one who isn’t excited about this mission. It feels like capitalists are just looking to plunder more resources while we kill this home.

This mission would have been planned many months ago. Also, giving a sense of wonder to people in a world that seems determined to crush it is very important. Also also, ‘we’ are not. A madman given supreme executive power to do virtually anything he wants with no repercussions is.

Everyone lost interest really after the first moon landings. That's why no one ever did. Only reason they are going now is because China wants to go there and the US scrambling to go again too. There's nothing there of interest really.

They are going to the far side of the moon ( we mostly see just one side of the moon from earth and it has been studied the most) and since they are not landing they go in a wider route around it. Some parts of the far side have never been photographed. It's called the ' Dark' side but it's not

I just think that this is ridiculous with the world being set on fire by the man behind the flag. Granted the money saved still wouldn't go to those who need it but solidarity with astronauts instead of ego would have been nice. That and they're looking to colonize 'cuz they effed up the EARTH.
