I can confirm that most of the normally pleasant and gentle older people in my life have been ready to put enemy villages to the sword and the torch for the last year

Really feeling the Yamamoto quote about "awakening a sleeping giant" lately. We are through the shock and fear phase and are now deep into the "every grandma and gentle parenting dad is vibrating with bloodthirst for revenge at levels I did not realize were possible"

I can't think of a single person I know (aside from maga family members) who doesn't want to see everyone in this regime pay for what they've done. From a very devout catholic cousin to my progressive athiest friends, they all agree that there needs to be retribution.

The usually provocative shit I say has become practically the moderate position among people I talk to. Mild mannered, normal democrats.

My 96 year old mother has said unspeakable things about this administration including things that could’ve resulted in a visit from the Secret Service.

I work in EMS, so regularly ask people “Can you tell me who the president is?” to assess mental status. People hate the guy. To the point that it is fairly common for people to refuse to say his name. It is as if breaking the taboo and speaking his name aloud will conjure him to diddle their kids.

My spouse was in the hospital for a few weeks for cancer tx. That question was part of the test they did several times a day. We figured out which nurses were sympatico pretty quick, they were the ones who laughed sincerely when he answered, “I can but I won’t.”

Had surgery recently and after waking up from the anesthetic/ sedatives, I was having an odd sensation (ended up being a normal side effect post- op, so no worries there). Nurse ended up asking me who the current president was. While I gave her an answer, I'm sure I stared lasers at her

We really need better cognitive test questions than "hey, do you remember that we live in the Hell Times?" Ask me what year it is, ask me if I remember the fall of YouTube Atheism to the shitlords of 4Chan, but don't ever make me remember that the worst pile of shit has returned to power.

about a week ago i took my mom to the emergency room (she'll be okay). she was in a *lot* of pain and struggling to speak. when they asked her the president question she gathered herself enough to say, "that fuckin' asshole." i told the nurse that, fwiw, by that she did mean trump.

I had a seizure while visiting my parents back in 2018 (never before, so far never again) and while my memory is quite fuzzy I tthink member my answer to that question starting with “Unfortunately…”

I had abdominal surgery during the first term, and while I was coming out of it I told them "Don't ask me who the president is, I don't want to think about that."

William Gerberding was president of the Univ of Washington for quite a few years. One day, a co-worker of my husband had a heart attack and was found unconscious. They took him to the UW Hospital and got him revived enough to ask who the prez was. He answered Gerberding and got a big laugh.

I had a stroke in 2017, and they kept wanting to ask me that question. I would look at the nurse or doctor, dead eyed, say "45," then list names all the way back to Hoover.

My mild-mannered, play-by-the-rules parents are *radicalized* Weekly protests, heckling centrist Dems at local meetings, and my dad casually reading bell hooks over his coffee last time I visited
