Don’t let anyone tell you this guy is popular or that the country is trending his way. Just isn’t true. Never was.

This chart shows how much of an outlier Trump is historically. Even Biden, who had the next highest disapproval when he took office, still had a plus-20 differential. news.gallup.com/poll/655955/...

He received less than 50% of the popular vote, and some of those people were just lifelong Republicans who didn’t actually like him but would just never vote blue.

Still doesn’t make him popular 🤷‍♀️ anyone with both a brain and morals dislikes him. Shame such a large percentage of the population apparently has neither.

It's kind of irrelevant though when half the country, and a huge amount of young people can't be fucked voting. That's without mentioning the lack of kick back/ramifications towards the Republicans making it harder and harder to vote in the first place.

newspeople bow down toTrump and his minions. I saw the first press briefing. What do you have to say for yourselves ? answer...we are weak and scared. bow down and give 15 million. bow down bow down go lower and lower and now go fetch a salute or a threat to nato greenland Milley.bow down

Kinda irrelevant. Really And the country kinda did trend his way Look, he’s an asshole, but you need to swallow this jagged little pill If the country wasn’t trending his way he wouldn’t have the house, the senate, the popular vote, the presidency and the Supreme Court? Jesus Christ, he won it all

The biggest thing is that our institutions failed us over and over and let a criminal traitor off the hook at every turn and put what never should have been on our shoulders on them. The deal was sealed (barely) with a firehose of propaganda and bought off legacy media. Historically unpopular.

Obviously he was popular enough to win in November, but only just barely popular enough. And he was even less popular the last time he won, in 2016. What I’m pointing out is there was no landslide. Not even close. And as soon as he was back in office for a week his approval sank 9 points.

I'm distraught over what's happening. And it's hard to accept. But most voting Americans voted for him. I had no idea that there were so many people that felt about others the way he does. I felt gaslit. I felt like I woke up to a new reality. But this is the reality as much as I might not like it.

The republicans also challenged 3.5 million votes to get them thrown out. They targeted black people & young liberals. Don’t even respect the results of the election, because he wouldn’t have won without that much voter suppression.

You want best possible or worst case? Best: they’re letting the ‘children’ have what they want before everyone sympathy pukes and they come clean up. Worst: they’re the same side of the same rigged coin that always lands tails up. Their bit of that coin isn’t covered in grim like the other bit.

His cult is locked in. And that's it. Dems and lefties hate hate hate him, and the bulk of indies don't like him. And we have to endure this bullshit for four years ... because dipshits voted for him and lazy bastards sat out.

and yet more than half of US Americans apparently thought he'd be the best option on the ballot. I don't like the guy (and I'm not even American) but statistics don't matter. you can poll every which way you want, he's in power and Americans are to blame

A lot of states that used to be demo states went swing, and a lot of swing states went red. I get the distinct impression people were voting against a candidate rather than for them. Not unlike the Obama/McCain election.

I get it's a common belief - people voting on the incumbent rather than between all options equally. the thing is though, if one ticks a box, they voted for someone. not voting or third party is always an option (granted, the US is mostly two parties). ain't Biden's fault people voted for Trump

But it won’t matter. He’s in now and he could give two shits about where he is in the approval ratings as long as he’s got his billionaire cronies and yes men around him.

Old saying: A people get the leadership that they deserve. It’s no use pointing fingures across the aisle—we’re all in this together as citizens of this country. Our leadership has forsaken us on many levels. Those of us who care enough about our democracy are now forced to fight for it.

Uh no. There's definitely use pointing in fingers across the aisle. Group A: Don't wash the windows with gasoline. B: We like the smell! B: Omg why is the house on fire? You both have to put it out but one has to figure out how to stop the other from lighting the house on fire again.

1. - half do support him 2. - it really doesnt matter outside of US if you support or dont, you put him in office and whole of US will be considered responsible for his actions

It seems that many Americans are trying to find ways to disbelieve the fact that populist authoritarianism appeals to a majority, however slim, of their fellow citizens. Trump is not an anomaly.

Because a conman tricked dumb people into thinking he would make groceries cheaper. Thats literally it. Americans are just not smart people.

Then I wonder why his vote total increased from 2016, to 2020, to 2024 despite everything the left threw at him? Why Democrats lost ground in nearly every state including traditional strongholds like New York? Keep on living in denial if it helps you feel better.

The actual election results show otherwise. It will come out shortly. He literally admitted the election was rigged. That's why he's gutting America. He knows he's hated and is lashing out. With his ppl. They're all going down

The rigging specifically is in Republican states being allowed to deem anyone as only having provisional votes then throwing out those votes. Democrats SHOULD have ignored the filabuster and passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Act so this wouldn't happen.

He doesn't care now he's in. Under the Westminster system he could be ejected at any time if there was enough to oppose but add in the immunity ruling you're stuck with a King for 4 years whilst he runs his party into the ground. Your whole system is broken in so many ways. From a Brit in Australia

And as the report states, this was at the beginning of his terms. Trump's approval rating cratered quick and never went back above 40% in any poll. To think that stupid ass people, voted to have an imbecile who messed up the Covid response and told people to inject bleach. Dumbasses. FAFO.

This is copium, Donald Trump is popular because he appeals to his base. Not that this is a good thing, but being vile towards minorities has been popular in AmeriKKKa since its inception.

It's eye opening to watch a guy who couldn't even get 50% of the popular vote, somehow slip even lower in nine days. Meanwhile, right now, he's somewhere blathering to someone about his "ratings" and having a better margin of victory than Reagan.

I think most people will find a way to blame it on the Biden administration or DEI or immigrants or whatever else they cook up. These are people who have eagerly accepted outrageous rhetoric this far along, I doubt very many will stop now.
