"Enshittification" is a hugely widespread contemporary derogatory nickname for a business practice in the tech space. Extremely analogous both in descriptive properties and timing to "clankers" Would literally anyone compare it to a racialized slur? No because that's a moronic analogy to make!

The difference? Nobody has formed an inappropriate anthropomorphized relationship with the practice of enshittification. But plenty of people have formed an inappropriate anthropomorphized relationship with LLMs! So they feel personally attacked when people use a derogatory descriptor for LLMs.

It is to some extent ok to make gentle fun of pets and inanimate objects: they don't understand, they don't get insulted. But when it's done from a place of hatred and loathing, we are practicing hatred and loathing, which harms us.
