i wonder what percentage of the electorate now understands that this man and maybe 75 other people like him are actively trying to destroy our lives. that he is the biggest national security threat we have faced, even moreso than bin laden or whoever. its got to be dawning on more and more people

NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

again: whatever we had here was all bought and paid for with blood. wars were fought. the slaveholders and the fascists lost. this soft handed pallid little worm and all his paper wealth extracted from your taxes is not permitted to just tip it over by writing some checks. sorry

what he's doing is also very bad for business and his cohort of elites. how long do you think the world is going to default to american products and core services (microsoft, google, amazon), subject themselves to american political processes and courts if this brazen corruption continues. nutty

damage is probably already done. the world needs to derisk away from america. it was dumb to do it in the first place but the sales pitch was always "secular multicultural democracy with more or less functional institutions" -- well youre lighting all that on fire, mostly to be seen as cool online

Nah, the pitch was "Americans pay for the military so you don't have to," and to be fair, when the USSR was putting all its money into weapons production, it wasn't the worst deal, but it should have stopped as a rationale when the Wall fell.

It's not even a matter of derisking, the basic reality is that the challenges of the 21st century are migration and climate change. Those are beyond even a superpower to manage. Global cooperation is the only way forward and boy howdy is it gonna piss people off!

putting this guy in the economic dirt would be the easiest thing in the world. all his money is based on either regulatory credit arbitrage or straight up government largesse. you could wipe him out with a stroke of a pen. you could also then jail him. and then deport him.

And yet I expect none of this because the instant anyone in congress starts trying to investigate him, he's going to call their biggest donors up and find ways to threaten them, and the donors are all going to fold and tell the congresscritter "leave Elon alone or our checkbooks close".

not to stray too far from the point but we also gotta make billionaires' (and millionaires!) 501c3 'foundations' considered taxable extensions of their income. might be over my skis here (was an assurance not a tax accountant) but i hate this crap! gates giving his money away to gates foundation etc

A regular jail is too good a fate for him. Musk deserves the Napoleon treatment: Banishment to a tiny Atlantic island with the modern addition of preventing him from accessing the internet

this is literally the first no regret move that would reap INSTANT benefits. low hanging fruit. day one you take this guy out back and put two in the back of his balance sheet and start the deportation proceedings. the rest of them will perk right up. this is easy, easy stuff

I'm just reading 'The Wizard of the Kremlin' by Giuliano di Empoli, and the thing that stuck in my mind is the observation that Putin's Arrest of the richest Russian Oligarch, Khordakovski, was something that simply couldn't happen in the West, as being a Billionaire effectively

By my math, his actions at DOGE damaged US government property and interests to the tune of... what? $100 billion? And since congress never passed a law creating that "department" or authorizing his actions, there is a colorable argument he did it without cover of law
