i wonder what percentage of the electorate now understands that this man and maybe 75 other people like him are actively trying to destroy our lives. that he is the biggest national security threat we have faced, even moreso than bin laden or whoever. its got to be dawning on more and more people

NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

There is a lot of evidence that the Democratic Party is bad at politics, but their inability to make Musk toxic is Ex. 1 for me. Talarico is getting it though.

important to distinguish inability from disinterest the center of the party is bankrolled by this exact same class of people — hell, they’re personal friends, in many cases. they don’t want to start the oligarch conversation for reasons that should be obvious

the democrats know that if they get back in power, he'll switch sides again and bankroll them. getting that money is more important than anything, because it allows them to ignore their 'constituents' and subvert democracy

When do they turn on each other? I need the entertainment! Usu happens when a powerful nucleus of shit [derogatory] has coalesced, as has this packed sphere of Nazi [derogatory] junkie [derogatory] pervert [derogatory] dummies. I guess in-group (in-shit-nucleus) solidarity still holds, for now.

There are genuinely so few people alive holding real power at this point that the most influential figures of our time could all fit in a cracker barrel. They need the fear of god put in em again, legally, financially, yes even a little bit mortally.

I think populism manifested as hatred of the super wealthy is always very popular across the political spectrum. So I think it's a sentiment with widespread support. Now in this case are people connecting it to the Republican party or even Paxton specifically. I don't know.

Whenever I hear them talk about immigrants who will destroy our culture through their failure to assimilate, I think of him and Thiel as the poster boys. I'd much rather have thousands of Somali refugees join the melting pot than a Nazi spending billions to destroy it.

what worries me is that you could destroy Musk but a million sensible people would go to bat for the system and dynamics that made guys like this so powerful. The next govt should be govt by antitrust

In Bin Laden's wildest dreams he didn't kill as many people as Musk has by destroying USAID. In reality I don't know the body count but its *possible* turning off Starshield without warning killed more people than Bin Laden did in reality.

The entire white nationalist and something like 70% of the mainstream Republican ecosystem are bankrolled and supported entirely by like a couple dozen billionaires, a fact that puts the favorite conspiracy theory of neo-nazis including Musk in real perspective.

it is, to the point where I think every single brain-broken lib cultist is on here (and most are bots) people talking to others don't continue to look for a savior in kamala harris. they're quietly accepting what comes next as they already know all of our leaders have failed us on every level.

never been more clear that billionaires simply shouldn't exist. They are incompatible with the concept of freedom: when you have so much money you can buy whole countries and break every law and get away with it, and it barely nicks your wealth even if you lose.

in large part i think this is why “they” r throwing so much $ at AI & shoving it down our throats - it’s their tcket to ruling over us, surveilling us, profiting frm us, controlling us, etc

Waste of money, most citizens don't take into account how much money a candidate raises as the basis to vote for them. So they get more ads on tv isn't going to change minds. #Talirico4Senate

again: whatever we had here was all bought and paid for with blood. wars were fought. the slaveholders and the fascists lost. this soft handed pallid little worm and all his paper wealth extracted from your taxes is not permitted to just tip it over by writing some checks. sorry

what he's doing is also very bad for business and his cohort of elites. how long do you think the world is going to default to american products and core services (microsoft, google, amazon), subject themselves to american political processes and courts if this brazen corruption continues. nutty

One of the things you don't do as an arms dealer is very publicly say "yeah, I can and will turn off those arms I sold you if I feel like it". Even if folks are stuck with you at the moment, that's just inviting someone to come along and be your disinterested competition.

The EU is already working towards their transition away from MS services. And look at what happened in Brazil in the leadup to the election with Facebook, that country temp banned X once already. Big tech decided to cash in their global market positions and it's the end of US software hegemony

damage is probably already done. the world needs to derisk away from america. it was dumb to do it in the first place but the sales pitch was always "secular multicultural democracy with more or less functional institutions" -- well youre lighting all that on fire, mostly to be seen as cool online

Nah, the pitch was "Americans pay for the military so you don't have to," and to be fair, when the USSR was putting all its money into weapons production, it wasn't the worst deal, but it should have stopped as a rationale when the Wall fell.

putting this guy in the economic dirt would be the easiest thing in the world. all his money is based on either regulatory credit arbitrage or straight up government largesse. you could wipe him out with a stroke of a pen. you could also then jail him. and then deport him.

Its a shocking amount of money but I think people would be more upset if they realized for musk it's like buying a new iphone.

I'd like to think that people have come to realize that it's an awful idea to allow the ultra wealthy to buy the entire country, but even if they have, it's still up to the Dems to put a stop to it, but they likely won't as long as there's a tiny chance the billionaires might give them money too.

the normie libs in my life want to see <redacted> happen to him anecdotal but I don't think they're alone

The absence of consequences from the DOGE fiasco sure suggests low expectations for any real consequences for anything within the legal system

I'm pretty sure every leftist I know feels the same way we are just afraid to post it cuz we always get banned first

I hope they (1%) realize diverting funds to politicians that don’t enact populist policy and solve real problems is a waste of money. There are some short term gains but it never lasts. Why can’t they just pay taxes and distribute their wealth fairly from the start instead of doing this useless shit
