The current argument of the British right is that Muslims turned out in "blocs" with "family voting" to cast their ballots for a party led by a gay Jewish man, and this shows that multiculturalism has failed, voting is "sectarian" and we are in a crisis. Hmmmmmm.

We as a family discuss politics around the dinner table, not every day but on days leading up to an election, and are generally in agreement with which party promises to deliver improvements in our lives. So what is the issue?

These pesky Muslims with their Sharia law and covering up women’s faces and jailing gay men and being anti-Semitic voting for….checks notes…a young blonde woman in a party led by a gay Jewish man. Maybe, just maybe, they are talking shite.

The Right in the UK saw 52% for Brexit and thought they could be in power forever with an ethno nationalist anti foreigner stance. They were wrong. Their day is coming to an end.

Reform: The Jihadi Islamists are going to install a Muslim king and rule the world under Shakira law Also Reform: The muslims are voting for the LGBT Progressive party, and forcing their families to do so!!! They also aren't integrated reeee Even I can't keep up with their nonsense every week.

If the Muslims did vote for the green party there's no better example to use which dismantles the fearmongering talking points that the right has established for the past 20 odd years.

It’s also not controversial that people from similar backgrounds and families tend to vote the same way. By this logic most of the Home Counties are hotbeds of Tory sectarianism (we all know what she’s really saying below the surface though)

But, just to be clear, it's not sectarian to vote for a man who doesn't think a large portion of the seats voters are English, and campaigned on potentially deporting them.

Also, by any measure, didn't Goodwin get less than half of the white vote (and the Tories less than 3.5% of it)? So what's this even about? (quite apart from the notion of bearded patriarchs lining their clans up to vote for the drug-loving gay Jewish guy, which could be a good bit at the Fringe)

Of course Labour never complained in the days when white working class traditional Labour supporters turned out in "blocs" in Manchester and scores of other places.

My husband and I often travel to the voting station together, either by foot or by car. Sometimes the kids came too because it was part of another journey. It's legal to get a family member to vote for you as a proxy, if you follow the correct procedure. These claims are just hate-stirring.

I surprised my daughter by taking her to register to vote on her 18th birthday then to a nice lunch. In the 90s my town’s League of Women Voters registered high schoolers turning 18 at school and held a celebration. Republicans strongly objected because the young are liberal and school reg stopped

The English political right continue to inhabit a post-truth parallel universe in which their own emotions & opinions matter more than objective facts & empirical reality. See also: "Brexit and why leaving the European Union will be beneficial for the UK" #GortonAndDenton bsky.app/profile/jame...

Brexit was about bleaching that rainbow. Now polls show a large majority realize that Brexit is an economic disaster yet Nigel Farage, on of Brexit’s biggest propagandists, is the most popular politician. The UK media, even the BBC, gives him a platform but rarely challenges him on that support.

The cognitive dissonance is fascinating here — people literally voting for someone who contradicts their supposed "sectarian" motivations, yet somehow this proves sectarianism? The human brain's ability to maintain contradictory beliefs simultaneously never ceases to amaze me.

It's almost like they had their excuse written in case Labour won and couldn't be arsed to rewrite it to fit the Green Party

and may I remind all of you that Zia Yusuf is Muslim and has accused Polanski of being islamophobic. So let's add that into the mix - especially as one of Reform's tropes today is that Muslims do what they are told by other Muslims and slavishly block vote...

He's right to highlight potential cheating in the election. One of the parties was found to have broken electoral law during the campaign. It was... um... let's see... ah, yes... Reform

Exactly. The US media refuses to make it clear that the same far right white nationalist movement is happening in other European countries. That is what motivated the disastrous Brexit vote. Bannon has been supporting that movement and even consulted Epstein about tactics but that story was buried.

There is going to be a HUGE amount of mud flung at Spencer and especially Polanski. But "anti-semite" will be a much harder sell than it was against Corbyn for many reasons. Inc a) It's not 2016-18 anymore b) "Self-hating Jew" is a trickier smear to pull off c) Polanski ain't Corbyn. 🍿🍿🍿🍿

I noticed that Fagash was very careful with his words on an earlier TV interview, claiming that families were colluding at the “Polling Station” - ie rather than specifically “in the polling booth.” I doubt that his followers will notice, or care, about the difference.

Badenough is trying to argue we are a multiracial society not a multicultural one. We are, of course, both. Therefore showing their approach is simply divisive racism…

It cheered me up no end. She could have written to each of them and thanked them. Mind you a letter from Bad enough would ensure they would never vote for them again. We hope.
