To celebrate 250 years watching the parade on Tv, the fireworks from the balcony of the WH with a president who is a Racist Draft Dodger, Felon, Pedophile, Rapist of Children Trump talking about how he has made America great by deporting the innocent and committing Genocide on foreign soil.

It would have been nice to have gotten to see our former Presidents and First Ladies all on the balcony of the White House giving words of praise to all those who brought us to this time in history. 250 years of freedom! Never lose sight of that.🇺🇸🌷🇺🇸

I completely agree. Imagine seeing President Harris & VP Walz and their families smiling giving amazing speeches speaking about our country’s history. All the cool things they would have planned for our nation’s birthday. It’s hard not to be sad about what could have been.

We will need to celebrate it in 2 years. Call it 250 Two Late, or something. It’s an absolute shame what has happened, but totally expected. Patriots my a—! Always gaslighting and full of ish.

The original planning had input from many veterans groups, but you see none of that now. Guess it didn't fit the Trump/Hegseth image of a "manly man military".

I dont think a woman can win the WH. I used to think I would see a woman president before I died. I no longer do. The patriarchy will not allow it. And a woman whose husband left her after she lost her election? The right will use that to their advantage. People suck.

Americans wouldn't be in the situation they are if they demanded the Constitution be enforced. The 14th Amendment prohibits oath-breaking insurrectionists from being President unless 2/3s of both houses vote to remove the prohibition. That vote was never held. Why? Ppl wld rather destroy the country

Wait... I just imagined what that could have been. -fetal position- - weeping openly - -Wailing "during PRIDE"- Let's turn this pain into rage

The saddest thing is I remember like yesterday 3rd grade and decorating my purple bike in red white and blue for the bicentennial celebration. I’m so sad that after 50 years I don’t want to celebrate now. That literally makes me cry. I hope not everyone feels like I do.

I was 19 that year and the joy folks felt. Sad that many of us don't feel like celebrating. I did hang my dad's Bicentennial Flag the he proudly flew in 1976. I'm doing it in memory of him.❤️

I got this from a friend when I expressed similar feelings. Sage advice. Enjoy the day, it’s the country’s birthday, not POTUS’s. ♥️🤍💙 I wonder if the difference in perception of 200 vs 250 is because as kids, things seemed much bigger.

We really shouldn't have celebrated 50 years ago when you consider all the history of the nation that has been held back, not taught in schools, etc. Know about the Philippine-American war 1899-1902? I just came across that one...then there's the genocide of the indigenous people, slavery, etc, etc.

I was in the 8th grade. The boys' coach shaved his head and had the american flag painted onto his head. We were encouraged to wear Red, White, and Blue. My mom loaned me her flag pants. I was part of the Glee Club. We did a rendition of the the Star Spangled Banner that rocked.

We do not have a U.S. flag in front of our home. A Calif flag right now. Right now Pride sign on the front yard. I put up flags for almost every month celebration. All the things the King said the US would no longer honor we do! Why did he get the 250th. 🙃

I was in 6th/7th grade. I remember wearing a lot of red, white and blue. There was a lot of fireworks that year. I even remember the Smithsonian having a train that traveled across America with artifacts and posters about the birth of our country. It was cool.

I just can’t bring any enthusiasm or joy to this July 4th. We all know why. My parents always threw a big July 4th party for family and friends. I miss that time. They’ve passed and I’m 78 now. I’ll probably stay home and watch the fireworks from my balcony.

Seeing the Lincoln Memorial covered with Washington and Trumps (mug shot) picture together makes me want to barf. It’s like a a reminder that 250 and going backwards is possible.

Think of where we would be today. *Sigh* I do not believe gas/grocery prices/inflation would have skyrocketed, we wouldn't be in an unnecessary war with Iran, we'd be working harder to move towards sustainable renewable energy and moving away from fossil fuels. We'd wake up happy. Happy 250th USA.😪

So do 80,000,000 other people but 77,000,000 want to use the “n” word. They wouldn’t even be able to read her book below with any modicum of understanding. #BookSky It’s way above their 3rd grade reading level & we have a POTUS that speaks on a fourth grade level according to linguistic experts.

It’s really hard to imagine what a knock-down drag-out party the 250th would have been with people who love the people in America in charge… it really is an opportunity, squandered.🥹 Leaving it to a megalomaniac has erased all joy from the event. Even the FACT that we are 250. I couldn’t care less.🤔

They Had Been Planning This for 250 years Then came the Me, Me Decade of Trump and He made it Cheap Nasty and All about Him He Embezzled the 250th Anniversary Money Blocked Anything that Wasn't About Him and Changed the Name to Make it About His Birthday! Trump Makes America look Cheap For Profit!

Boy, that would be spectacular wouldn't it? I would have celebrated it for sure then, but as it stands right now I feel like it has been hijacked.

Of course, but in part that is because Trump's version of America IS a dystopia! This is not the country whose flag and Republic I pledged allegiance to every day throughout public school. Trump is pillaging and raping our history, foundation, coffers, and future!

But maybe that’s the problem. What other democratic country does that anymore? Such patriotism- leading to Nationalism - now white Nationalism. Arguably to white Christian nationalism. Was it to ‘god and country’?

Let me just point out that the Republic is defined by our Constitution. Reread the 1st Amendment. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." <cont> →

Alison, why don’t you ask him why Kamala won’t challenge the results of the ‘24 election? Do a hand recount and forensic audit in 2 swing states -Russian bomb threats, Musk statements, Trump statements before and after, the low prob Trump won all 7,

He as First Gentleman with his wife as Madam President. It would have shown the US to have grown and evolved after 250 yrs. But no, we haven't. We haven't and are sliding backward unless we can stop it.

There really is NOTHING to celebrate this Independence Day, unless our military decides to uphold the Constitution, protect the nation against all enemies, both foreign AND DOMESTIC, therefore arresting Trump and his entire cabinet and try them all for high treason. Now THAT would be a celebration!
