Man, you just have to be the biggest rube in the universe to think that Trump is halting Ukraine aid because Zelensky didn't wear a tie or kiss the ring.

The only thing Ukraine did incorrectly was trusting the US in the first place. They should’ve insisted on NATO membership. But, who could’ve predicted the US could be purchased so cheaply by Russia. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thiessen may wake up someday and realize he was giving cover and enabling the villains whose aim it was to bring down the USA, but I’m not holding my breath. He’s willfully blind.

Ive been blessed with working alongside some amazing strategic planners. The results of actions which cause damage downstream, without a cogent backup plan to accommodate unforeseen consequences? , nothing here is strategic or rather it indicates the motivations are evil or at best self serving

Nah, that's just designed to reinforce the narrative that OUR MONEY is going to disrespectful, unworthy foreigners who want our money more than they want peace. And don't discount that Zelinskyy appearing to be on the "outs" with the US hurts his domestic support.

I can't believe how many "experts" can tell us all about the foreign affairs trees while saying nothing about the forest. Trump's administration isn't misjudging anything. Donald Trump has simply been a Russian stooge for decades. He will always try to do what's best for Putin.

This is an excellent example of what @eliothiggins.bsky.social calls "disordered discourse." There are a lot of professional belief-professors in this lie, because it benefits certain people—oligarchs, of whom your employer is one—to pretend it's true. Don't say the emperor is naked, above all else.

Halting aide to Ukraine , money that was already appropriated by the Congress during the Biden Admin ,is illegal. This is the same crime that got tWump impeached the first time during his first Admin. So where is Congress? Call and bitch people.Wake your Senate and House reps up to this fact.

The next biggest rubes are people who think that the administration and Trump apologists actually believe that's why aid must be cut.

Putin wants aid to be cut because Ukraine is striking targets in Russia with impunity, and capturing Russian territory in a manner that Russia cannot effectively address with their hollowed-out military.

These are the lies they arm their supporters with, so when their supporters speak to their family and friends, they don't sound like absolute garbage people who support putin and want Ukraine destroyed. No one believes this stuff.

Is "their President didn't wear a suit to the White House" a lie that makes them sound LESS like garbage people? As lies go, "Ukraine started the war so we shouldn't help them" seems more defensible than "Russia started the war but I don't like the way Zelensky dresses".

No, it's simply an excuse they can offer to avoid the actual truth. They'll create a rolodex of lies, if needed. The lies don't have to be believable. There is not a single living person on this planet who actually believes Ukraine started the war. We all know this. Hence, the lies.

It's also why the maga crowd is always so angry. They've been repeating these types of lies over and over and can't ever quite seem to convince themselves.

What of platforms that call for Zelensky to apologize or resign, in the name of personal liberties and free markets. At least we must presume this is what the platform supports since its owner has stated that its opinion pages are for PL&FM, with alternative opinions left to be expressed elsewhere.

And? These platforms are wrong, complicit and part of the smoke and mirrors show tWump and pals are launching to finally deliver Ukraine to Putin and he wont stop. This is intolerable, despicable and should not stand . People need to condemn these rogue behavior by our so called Democratic Republic .

realclearpolitics.comDavid Brooks on Zelensky: Trump Is Behaving "Vilely" To A Man Who Is Defending Western Values, At Great Personal RiskPBS NEWSHOUR: New York Times columnist David Brooks and Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart join Amna Nawaz to discuss the week in politics, including President Trump's public spat with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, if Europe can depend on the U.S. and new restrictions on the White House press corps. AMNA NAWAZ, PBS NEWSHOUR: David, from that Helsinki meeting in 2018 to this meeting today, what do you make of it? DAVID BROOKS, NEW YORK TIMES: I'll stick with today. I have enough to say about today. I was nauseated, just nauseated. All my life, I have had a certain idea of about America, that we're a flawed country, but we're fundamentally a force for good in the world, that we defeated Soviet Union, we defeated fascism, we did the Marshall Plan, we did PEPFAR to help people live in Africa. And we make mistakes, Iraq, Vietnam, but they're usually mistakes out of stupidity, naivete and arrogance. They're not because we're ill-intentioned. What I have seen over the last six weeks is the United States behaving vilely, vilely to our friends in Canada and Mexico, vilely to our friends in Europe. And today was the bottom of the barrel, vilely to a man who is defending Western values, at great personal risk to him and his countrymen. Donald Trump believes in one thing. He believes that might makes right. And, in that, he agrees with Vladimir Putin that they are birds of a feather. And he and Vladimir Putin together are trying to create a world that's safe for gangsters, where ruthless people can thrive. And we saw the product of that effort today in the Oval Office. And I have -- I first started thinking, is it -- am I feeling grief? Am I feeling shock, like I'm in a hallucination? But I just think shame, moral shame. It's a moral injury to see the country you love behave in this way.

It goes back to his first administration when Z would not throw the Bidens under the bus. The West financed Ukraine to get rid of its nukes. Did the West break a deal to ensure Ukraine’s security?

Actually if Zelensky debased himself and praised Trump enough, he probably wouldn't have halted aid. Trump isn't complicated. He's a narcissist with a an IQ in the low 70's. I mean the main reason he loves Putin is that a comment he made was mistranslated into saying that Trump was "bright".

Especially as 70% of that aid is actually spent in the US, with US arms companies, on buying replacements for the old weapons being sent, and most of those arms companies are Trump donors. He ain't fucking them over because of a suit and tie.

Absolutely. It was just a pretext for how they staged the whole thing to pull out of any deal and to blame the whole thing on Zelenskyy. He could have worn a Hugo Boss suit and said thank you 1,000 times or danced the Kalinka, they'd have come up with something else anyway.

Trump's scripts are no more subtle than Vince McMahon's. It's pro-wrestling. It's telling with the "You have no cards" line. He thinks everyone is playing a game. "Sometimes you do what's right even if it comes at a cost," sounds like nonsense to him.

If it’s OK for Elon MuskRAT to dress in a bad mismash(& mismatch)of black clothing attire from something out of Steven Seagal’s closet whilst wielding a chainsaw & occasional throwing out Nazi salutes, we can ignore concerns about ‘anyone’s’ wardrobe, choices in front of Trump and his depraved cult
