reliance on starlink is a national security threat for every country, including the united states, where musk would absolutely use it to sabotage the foreign policy of a dem president it must be replaced posthaste

The White House says the malicious manipulation of Ukrainian access to StarLink and StarShield is over. Zelenskyy says it continues. And Zelenskyy, of course, is correct.

Seize the satellites & cancel the government contracts. I refuse to support any form of nationalization that includes paying anything to SpaceX. lease satellite usage back to Starlink for commercial use but taxpayers paid for all this shit in the first place. All new investments to NASA.

Nationalized as critical infrastructure, ban the construction of new constellations by American companies and try to enact a treaty to cool the arms race of giant LEO constellations

Seems like something that can/must be nationalized and integrated into the DOD directly. Anyone (and I mean anyone) in the private sector who works on it should have to submit to a rigorous national security review, plus probably drug screening.

I like to hope that if Musk tried to wield it against a dem president they wouldn't hesitate to nationalize it. That's the kind of thing that national security emergencies are actually FOR.

And countries like Canada, with a lot of very rural populations, NEED to make this a priority. The last few years have proven that we cannot rely on any service tainted with US influence.

Gemini won't tell you how many times Republicans have violated election tampering law in the last ten years. For "safety reasons." Reliance on AI is creating an enclosed eco-system that lets oligarchs define our reality. The threat is already here.

The EU, Russia, and China felt that way about GPS, and built their own (and a few other countries have done that as well.) For LEO data, Eutelsat, Amazon, Viasat, Telesat, Hughes, and others are out there, but Starlink had come in early and said "We'll help you out" so UKR's used it heavily.

[Slaps the hood of the 5th Amendment] "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." Mr. Starlink, you are now the property of the US government in this, our time of need. Here is a check that we think is reasonable.

“Your product has been known to shut off unexpectedly at particularly difficult times for national security. We therefore value it at $1. Enjoy your time before the federal judiciary.”

nationalizing it is also a great idea, throw him in jail while we're at it, I'm not picky this is an 'all of the above' situation

Yeah as much as I think all of them are horrible people a US general did talk about how it was dangerous how much the US now relies on Musk

Which nation you thinking? Coz that solves it not at all for the current issue, and not for anyone else for any future issues. May I nominate Aotearoa New Zealand? Consistently high in the corruption perceptions index, remote, not entrenched at the heart of any particular global sphere.
