I still remember the audible gasps in the theater, watery eyes, and flushed faces as we walked out after the credits. Even true trekkies doubted the hope that he wasn't really gone until his body was shot onto Genesis in a torpedo tube! I remember being shocked, saddened, and angry all at once...

Off topic! Sue me! Be aware. Pam Bondi is my lawyer. LoL. FLAME Shields UP!! Watching the last few eps of Star Trek Academy & I luv it! Yeah, it's got romance & corn, but it's not excessive. All & all, the stories are true to the past. Haters: I'm sticking my tongue out & making fart noises at you.

Most memorable quotes: (from original series)….”after a while you may discover that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting.” “I object to you. I object to intellect without discipline. I object to power without constructive purpose.”

William was a decent guy when I met him as a preteen in the 80's. Not smarmy at all. That's not nothing. He was kind & bemused & NOT AT ALL FLIRTY. That means something.

Teared up just watching the clip. Writers understood what makes a hero, & it isn't sitting in a captains chair firing a torpedo, or hunting down a bad guy for killing ur family. It's not revenge, or hate or bloodlust. It is doing the right thing for no other reason than it is the right thing to do.

Only to later rise from the dead in order to help guide his fellows on a journey to save all of us on Earth. Hope this doesn't develop into a religion or something.

Finally bought it on 4K and watched this past weekend. I was a wee lad when I saw it during its initial release. It remains one of my favorite films after all these years. Shatner was excellent. Kirk has the most depth in this film.

Man, I was so furious when SPOCK died! I was ready to give up on STAR TREK! But then, it was a "OH HAPPY DAY" moment when he was brought back in the next movie. Honestly, it was one incredible storyline.

Me too! I’ll never forget it either watching it on the big screen - that moment - I think it’s the only time I’ve ever really cried in a movie theater.

I saw that movie at the drive-in with my sister. I cried my eyes out when Spock died. She laughed at me for being so emotional over a sci-fi character. I just turned to her and asked so it's different when you cry over a soap opera character???

But beyond all reasonable expectations, he was also brought back to life in the subsequent sequel. No one was more surprised than I. When I go Trekkie, I become Spock. Live long & prosper. But also, Death is only the beginning. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few elitists.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16 KJV

The odd thing is that, although I've watched the series from the first run of the original series and I am a serial crier at movies, I was the one who didn't cry at this scene.

Stupid movie titanic I knew my late husband & I were meant to be when we watched it together in a tiny cottage theatre ‘Hurry up and DIE already !’ ‘Why can’t you let skinny Jack on the door for a little bit huh?’ Even promoted argument with friends years later You NEVER fall out of like

He would have died the same day. He didn’t choose to die for his friends. He chose to make his death meaningful by saving lives, including the lives of his friends.
