Kids will email us with frantic demands, like this one i just got which reads "I need to talk to a scientist about squirrels", followed 2 minutes later with"Please respond quick". It is verboten to sign up for a match as a kid, but they give themselves away immediately with their demanding vibe.

Is the assignment email a scientist? Is this young man just doing a project and wants to get the squirrel deets from the source? Idk! Obviously we do not let 12 year olds loose on conversations with adults we don't personally know and fingerprint, but I wish him luck on his quest regardless.

They have the collective body of human knowledge LITERALLY in their pockets...and they have to email a scientist to ask questions? I'd just respond by sending them a link to Google. 😂

The joys of being a grandfather to eight, knowledge on demand. I will know they are teens when they realise I made it all up. Until then, there is still some magic in our world. My school days with my pet dinosaur I called Rubble. 😀

This isn’t a professional diagnosis, but “squirrel” & “respond quick” are primary indicators your kid is ADHD. Squirrels are our spirit animal, & we leave everything to the last minute.

This could have been me last summer when relaxing on the porch I heard a huge screeching commotion in a tree in the cemetery across the street. As I looked, a squirrel came running at me full bore with a yellow goldfinch in its mouth, before veering away and careening off. I am STILL STARTLED.

When my son was in grade school they literally assigned a paper that required "talking to an expert." So the topic had to be chosen from the experts we knew.

Wait..does this mean even if you aren't a group of adults but a single one, would it be ok?😲 I have a lot of questions about sea life, especially cephalopods, but I've been shy to ask cos I don't represent any school. I'm just looking up for info for a childrens book about sea life I'm writing.
