One, that's not how copyright works and there will be an entire battalion of IP lawyers who will be happy to correct Open AI of this misapprehension, likely to the tune of billions of dollars, and two, fuck this shitty thieving waste of proteins and lipids

Exclusive: OpenAI is planning to release a new version of its Sora video generator, which creates videos featuring copyrighted material unless copyright holders opt out of having their work appear.

They are banking on making enough billions that they still turn a profit after the lawsuits. Which sadly is probably a safe bet given how this usually goes. Government clearly needs to let people come after Altman’s personal money not just the company since he is flagrantly violating the law.

"But there's an OPT OUT option!" says the company that automatically opts in every bit of copyrighted material without telling the rights holders ahead of time because they're sneaky, disingenuous and greedy little fuckwits who think they're slick but chunkier than gravel in dog shit.

It is sooooo backwards that - wether as an artist or a person - you have to opt out of this data-rippoff but you cannot “buy in”. As in “you can use this from me but I want the royalties cause you’re making profits of my work”.

But that’s the business plan: Make the “best” AI trained on copyrighted IP. Pray your competition can’t afford to spend the billions you can afford on copyright cases, and that they can’t make good enough AI slop without the copyright violations. For them, it’s seen as a barrier for competition.

Man, I need to switch to IP law really quick, I feel that there's going to be so much money suing AI companies and taking their VC's money as damages for all the blatant copyright violations that are occurring and apparently are going to continue because they say they are not going to stop.

I’m going to OpenAI‘s data centers and taking any piece of hardware I want unless he preemptively opts out (each individual screw and wire must be separately opted out).
