No doubt looking to break the 'wasp flying speed' record by a significant factor. If the plane is greeted by a Guiness Records rep, my theory will be proven.

Ages ago on a flight from JFK to St Thomas there was a fly on the plane that all I could think about when we landed and they opened front and back doors (stairs only) and it had to all…. WTF is this? 🤣

I'll take everything back on what I wrote about bad coffee being the worst hardship when traveling nowadays. bsky.app/profile/mfus...

On the other hand: For most humans throughout most of history sleeping and lazily sitting in a seat might not have counted as "travel" Or maybe as the most lazy and most decadent way to travel. One where the worst hardship on the way might be that the coffee tastes wrong.

Still better than the beginnings of a wasp nest that I discovered in the moving van I was driving on the I90 one year. When you're going 70 in moderate traffic and there is no place to safely pull over, having your cab fill with 5-10 unhappy wasps is somewhat startling.

When I travel by bus, I carry my backpack, and in my backpack I carry a small plastic container and square of cardboard specifically for catching sting-y things trapped in the bus with us. Because none of us wants that, including the sting-y thing, and I can help.
