Don’t know who wrote this — it was posted on Instagram by “Warpaint Journal” in April 2025 — but it’s making the rounds today and is pretty great. I dream of this too ❤️

OK. $3M lotto win -> Invest in S&P 500, nice and stable diversified fund -> avg 8% return-> $240k/year -> 20% cap gain tax = $192k after tax living on just the interest. I can't imagine wanting for more than that.

In many movies, average Americans are often portrayed as having a lot of economic freedom & flexibility. They can just buy a flight ticket, hire a car, fill the gas tank, eat out, without as much as a second thought. Maybe this was so when the middle class and working class had savings

That’s exactly what I feel- -“I just want to be rich enough”. To pay mine and a family members CC debt; to buy a house big enough for all of us; to treat everyone to dinner and a movie; to lie in bed at night and smile myself to sleep. 😴

I dream of being so rich I emit my own financial gravitational field that all other commerce must bend towards but this person is good, too.

I desire "no" money. That's the amount of money you need to be able to say "no" to whatever you want, for whatever reason. It's the point at which money is no longer a pain point nor a guiding need.

Exactly it's to be comfortable. Not to have to count every single item at the grocery store. To be able to pay the entire utility bill every month. I just want to be comfortable. But the richest among us will spend millions just to make sure to get every last penny out of our pockets. It sad

I don't have a retirement fund and that worries me, but for now, I can say my needs are met. And my daughter got me in the habit of getting $20 cash back at the grocery from time to time, in $5 bills so I'll always have cash for buskers and someone who needs a little help. Because my needs are met.

This is 100% me. I was the person needing the help, now I can offer it. To me, that’s wealth beyond compare. I don’t want to be a billionaire (I mean, I wouldn’t say no, lol…) but I love being able to buy a friend lunch, or put in a grocery order, etc.

Used to be able to do those simple things and donate to the homeless shelter. But now I'm retired, broke, living on Social Security after paying-in for 54 years and barely getting by. And this fascist regime of criminals wants to steal that.

I’ve always said, “If I ever had a lot of money… I wouldn’t.” But my waitstaff would have plenty and my favorite creators would have new top-tier patrons.

Don't know but, they're singin my song. I remember driving to the store to play the lotto after it had bloomed to some astronomical figure. I asked myself what would I do with it? My answer basically amounted to, give it away, cause I was already comfortable. It then dawned on me, I did ok in life🙂

I mean at this point I dream about being rich enough to house all my friends in a community in the middle of nowhere so we can get away from the rest of the world. With really good internet.

I don't mind washing dishes. I could make that my contribution to the community. Just make sure your dishes soak first Washing machine is a definite need though, people don't realize how intensive laundry is. It literally takes all day - maybe even two days - to wash everything by hand

The technology for the electric part is very much here: I have rooftop solar on an ancient house, in Pennsylvania, and it covers a third of our relatively extravagant power usage with a forecast to break even in 8-10 years. On the other hand, I don't know what it would take for water in and out.

Democrats would need to bring meaningful guardrails back in capitalism so that we can have competition and fair prices in commerce while monopolies do not devour the middle class.

There was a time when not every kid had to fundraise -- only poor ones. I asked a kid selling chocolates which was best. She didn't know; she'd never tried any (because...no money). I asked which she wanted if she could buy it. She pointed; I paid. She handed it to me. I said, "For you." Smiles.

Ensuring #Canada stays a social democracy where we improve the support for humans, and limit the wealth and power of the 1percent. Our country has been shifting towards American predator corporate capitalism in these last few decades. We need to stop that so everyone has a roof over their heads.

Exactly I don't want to have the headache or the soul extraction service required to be a billionare. I want to be financially secure enough to own a home, get the basic ammenities I want, and take an interesting vacation every couple years or so. That's enough for me.

The first time I felt well off was when I could donate the maximum amount my company would match for the year. And selfishly, when I could afford a place with central air!

This is what being rich is all about. Not keeping it all in off-shore accounts adding interest. It’s sharing among friends, neighbours, poorer people on the street, it’s providing shelter for those in need, clothes for those less fortunate. It’s about fixing the things we can. ♥️ it too…

There's a FREE course @ Yale University called The Science Of Well-being that teaches you (on science based evidence) amongst other things, that it's better to give than receive. Highly recommended! online.yale.edu/courses/scie... It's particularly good, because they spell "WELL-BEING" correctly!

online.yale.eduThe Science of Well-Being | Yale OnlineIn this course you will engage in a series of challenges designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits. As preparation for these tasks, Professor Laurie Santos reveals misco...

I hate to be a wet blanket, but this isn't true. Lots of people say - "I don't want much!" But as they get more, they want more. Lots of people play the lottery and say, "I'll start a charity! I'll start a rescue for animals!" But people who win the lottery don't do that. Money is like that.

I have longed to be "independently middle class" so I could devote my energy to only being a full time caretaker AND have the money to afford the help we need.

This is so beautiful. I obviously have different moral standards i love to help people and give them what I can. That brings me so much happiness in my heart and soul. It is a happiness money cannot buy. These billionaires could help so many people but they choose not to. Karma is watching.

Striving to be 'fancy-rich' - let alone 'filthy-rich' - is a sign of stunted emotional development. A sign of a damaged person who, by their own toxic possessive traits, furthers the damage to themselves.

Randos with wealth: put it back into the economy Epstein class with wealth: hoard it so hard it'd make a dragon question that action.

Operative Word for Me = ENOUGH For vicious globs of pasty goo like Elno Skum there is Never Enough No matter what Jeff Bozos buys - still never enough Guess that’s why these soulless wretches desperately reach for space travel As if somehow only the vastness of space will finally make them happy😔

To be able to do those things used to be possible for all working Americans when I was a kid. Then the most selfish generation to ever exist came into power and most of us now can barely afford to exist.

This attitude makes sense. I grew up around people who freely give, and receivers who kindly accept. It builds a community. Caring & Sharing. Each according to their means. Warpaint writer reminds us how life can be elevated by small acts of kindness.

That's an absurd statement. Wealthy California, for example, has spent close to $30B on homelessness over the past 5 years with little to show for it. Much of the money can't even be accounted for. California's homeless population has *increased* by 13% since 2020. I'm sure you mean well.

"California has spent 30BN on homelessness" how much have they spent on housing for the poor? Most of that 30bn has been for shelters and for managing the "crime impact" of homelessness. How much has California spent to help the poor have homes? I'll give you a hint, CA has no state run housing.
