Rep. Jim Himes on Trump blowing up boats in the Caribbean: "The White House has not shared what they believe their legal justification is. They did put out a memo. I will tell you based on what I know now and the reading of that memo, these are illegal killings."

A prosecutor in Venezuela can bring charges and, because we have an extradition treaty with Venezuela, the U.S. will have to hand them over. Everyone in the chain of command is culpable.

True. Donald Trump cannot be charged with these murders. But no one in the chain of command from the Secretary of the Navy down to the seaman who pulled the trigger has that immunity, and every single one of them should be charged with murder.

apparently its OK with the military chain of command too. which is supposed to refuse illegal orders, at every step as they pass down the chain

we should bring back the draft, it'd mean a pool of potential officers that are more in line with our citizens, and also they'd be more afraid/respectful of their subordinates.

"Classified legal opinion"? Sounds like BS written by a Trump lawyer like the "elite" group who advised him concerning the Georgia elections.

It seems the question has been answered; will the military carry out illegal orders? They have and they will. What's the next step, shooting planes out of the sky? America has turned into a rogue nation and is the enemy of democracy.

Yeah probably. OTOH there were plenty of people killed in drone strikes like this in the Bush and Obama eras. Some were villains, turns out some of them were mistakes. Is there a fundamental difference between those cases and these?

The Middle East drone strikes were (nominally) authorized by Congress with the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (which is an abomination). These drone attacks are covered by no law in the United States.
