I deeply loathe liberals and centrists who laugh at red states and say they deserve their fate. As if you can't be a good person, or woke, or antifascist, or whatever, because you were born in gerrymanderedland without the financial and social mobility to move easily.

Left: How people think Mississippi votes Right: How Mississippi actually votes

View from someone living in TN: these people really are awful. And if you made the votes fair I don't think a ton would change. But there's people who aren't, caught in the machine created by everyone else's idiot malice. You watch democracy fail to deliver here and it sucks. It sucks a lot.

I've seen plenty of such comments about Nebraska. Purported "coastal elites" joke about how the residents of red states deserve what they vote for. Yet, there are blue voters everywhere in these states. Omaha is Blue, voted for Kamala, both Lincoln and Omaha have Democratic mayors. Come see.

More Texans voted for Kamala than the entire voting population of several states combined. Republicans have ruled this state for decades and when their policies crap out (like our privatized power grid with weak regulations), they still try to blame dems.

Me too! White coastal liberals need to grasp that most former confederate state legislatures are illegitimate super-majorities who legislate against the will of their people, but can't be voted out. National Dem Party lets them run unopposed, and abandons voters who've been purged/suppressed.

I might be on the extreme spectrum, but I hate moving so much that I generally don't unless forced by circumstance. Social and financial considerations aside, moving is just fucking difficult. Yeah, also loathe people that treat that trivial (but only for others).

Yep! Or if you ❤️ the place u live despite the majority of voters voting 4 harmful candidates, if u ❤️ the place for other reasons. If yr ancestors have been here for thousands or hundreds of years, if yr family is here, if the natural world is home to u, if the culture is beautiful, the work good.

Hah, I love this. But my immediate thought about his first post was him asking for receipts that being a biggot like this was racist, classist, etc. Surely blaming an entire state for its fate is just logical. "How is saying, "they get what they deseve" racist or classist?" - Thomas probably.

A few months ago, two high school girls got assaulted by some guy in Quakertown PA for participating in a protest, and many liberals on here said “they got what they deserved” for living in a city where 53% of people voted for Trump.

Yeah, so I still have to take you at your word that there were so many liberals on here saying “they got what they deserved” that you can’t QT me one post to shut me up. 🤷🏻‍♂️

not that you actually care but tons of blue state liberals were saying that trans people in texas like me get what they deserve for voting for the frickin cheeto in the white house. no i will not search for these comments just for you to scoff in cynicism.

MS has purposefully structured their voting law from ever letting a Democrate winning Governor. Their constitution requires a statewide candidate to win a majority of the popular vote and a majority of the 122 state House districts. A Dem can win the former, but still lose because of the latter.

If nobody wins both, the election is decided by the House, and representatives are not obligated to vote as their districts did. This was a Jim Crowe holdover to prevent any change in the state. The majority black capital of Jackson is constantly at odds with the good ol'boy state government.

The state is a tar pit; the community celebrates when you can leave. The State has the potential to turn purple, but this mindset that it deserves to be cast aside is a self fulfilling prophecy to never let it happen. The potential voters there aren't lazy. They are broken and tied from the system.
