I've always been a fan of the Nordic model, but the disease that is anti-immigration populism has infected that region as well. It's harder now for me to think of them as a warm and friendly people.

All Nordic countries are 'capitalist', i.e. are mixed economies like most successful countries.

Let me define the difference between a Capitalist and Socialist government... Capitalist: Using all your hard earned taxpayer money to benefit oligarchs and corporations. Socialist: Using all your hard earned taxpayer money to benefit the taxpaying masses.

I believe Democratic Socialism was always the intent. In other words... The intent was that our democratic socio-economic system... "for the ppl by the ppl"... would inherently impose the required restraints on Capitism. Capitalism was to be guided by the rules of Democracy. Not the reverse!

It's even worse, it's a system built on exploitation, otherwise there's no profit. And that exploitation can only be outsourced to other countries for so long, eventually, it'll have to come back around. Self-regulating free markets is nothing but a lawless free-for-all to steal as fast as possible. This country was started by a bunch of screaming liberals.

There is no one perfect economic system. We should stop worrying about labels and the stigma they bring and just use common sense to support programs that benefit the people. Then tax at a rate that supports their cost.
