Why do we keep on doing this? Praising a 'small core team' for a game with 1100+ people in the credits is incredibly misleading. This PR narrative hurts, hides the massive shadow workforce of outsourced developers and testers, and sets impossible standards for actual indie teams.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

It's my great pleasure to give a long overdue progress update on our fully human-translated and human-coded English patch for the legendary Tokimeki Memorial 2!

Honestly refreshing to see a recomp clearly stating this. Go check it out, tbh

For the second-to-last of Gayest Episode Ever, I wanted to cover... something that it not sitcom at all, but does have plenty to say about the prison of nostalgia: the Baby Doll episode of Batman: The Animated Series! It gets kinda personal! www.gayestepisodeever.com/episodes/bab...

What kind of hazards do I have planned for my game? Elderly jaywalkers, rival bike messengers, dogs who don’t like delivery people?

I dont think I have shown any of this online yet but I’m still slowly working on my GBC game. Lately I have been prototyping these maze chase levels. You pick up and drop off packages while avoiding hazards. #screenshotsaturday

Today we have something special: a newly translated interview from July 1996 between Shigeru Miyamoto and Kenji Eno! Conducted just weeks after the launch of Mario 64, Eno takes Miyamoto to task (in a friendly way) with several fascinating critiques of its design. shmuplations.com/miyamotoxeno/

Thanks to some GB Studio wizards at the discord, I was able to get SEAMLESS SPRITE SHEET SWAPS working as a workaround to that 1 frame graphical hiccup that you can hopefully see here (may be tricky with bsky video compression). Sharing the tech for bsky folks here in this 🧵: #gbstudio #gameboy

I dunno why but I get the feeling they drew the Tyris frames first and then traced them for the remaining characters when doing the back turning poses in the endings for the PC-Engine version of Golden Axe

My best craft advice is "Put a giant worm in it." You can never go wrong with a giant worm. Sci-fi: Giant worm on an alien planet Fantasy: Giant worm in mountain sitting on a pile of gold Horror: Giant worm (eats people) Romance: Giant worm causes third-act breakup Mystery: Giant worm investigates

Writers: what’s a solid piece of *craft* advice you wish you’d known sooner? Mine is this: when making writing decisions, always stop and ask yourself what is best for the SCENE. What are the scene’s goals? Does this sentence, this paragraph, this line of dialogue serve those goals? If not, fix it.
