What is the BBC's justification for maintaining this level of coverage of Reform now it has slipped into third place?

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

BBC News broadcasting live yet another Farage/Reform 'announcement' as they are wont to do at the drop of a hat. This one is about the economy. Although , currently, he's wanging on about Brexit plus immigration, of course.

Maximum global sea-ice extent usually occurs in early November. As of October 25th, this year's global sea-ice extent currently ranks 3rd lowest for the day, just 40,000 km² above the record daily low set in 2023. Will 2026 see a new record low maximum? Stay tuned!

A free party political broadcast for Reform. It's getting ridiculous now.

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

My utilities come to about £3,000 a year. Cruella claims £45,000 from us to pay for hers. And she'll no doubt be cheering on 'Honest' Bob's plans to cut welfare from those most in need.

You are describing the 1970s. Picking potatoes was a summer job for youngsters, and I remember watching Dear Old Dad gut the rabbits that we'd raised for the pot. (The Good Life with Richard Briars and Felicity Kendall was a documentary, not a sitcom.)

Kids should be taken to an arable farm and pull potatoes out of the ground. Then, they should go out on a fishing boat and watch a net full of cod being pulled in. Finally, they should watch an adult fillet the cod and make fish and chips. Learn where food comes from.

Are these crowds in the room with us, now?

This is just strange behavior, even from a dementia patient. Trump stops and waves. The camera zooms out to reveal that there’s nobody in the direction he’s waving. Apparently, he’s waving to the ghost of Lindsey Graham.

Reckless for the climate, useless for energy security this decision shows the UK is prepared to gamble with our future and it sends a message out globally that others can do the same 🔥🌍

Scottish Greens@scottishgreens.org

🚨 BREAKING: The UK Labour Government have approved the Jackdaw gas field. This a devastating betrayal of future generations. Jackdaw will make the UK even more dependent on the global gas market. This will do nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

A 'quirk' of nationalisation is that some of these overseas owners are themselves nationalised - eg EDF or Trenitalia - so the Tories created a crazy situation where profits are exported to help subsidise overseas State operators rather than having our own nationalised operators benefitting the UK.
