- I earned my Class 5 (the one where you can drive alone) license. - I was awarded the Game Belt after ball hockey. - The Leafs have won four in a row. A devastating couple of days for my haters.

At least $50 billion for another pipeline. $82 billion in new military spending in 5 years. $300 billion in corporate welfare and mega incentives at an investment summit. But the cupboard is bare for Parks Canada.

2,671 PSAC members at Parks Canada received notice this week that their positions may be cut. These cuts put our environment, natural and cultural heritage, parks, and national historic sites at risk. psacunion.ca/psac-raises-...

I hope we've all learned a valuable lesson about the difference between the Progress Report and Press Progress.

STORY, updates to come: Edmonton former journalist Duncan Kinney has admitted to spray painting a bust of Ukrainian World War II leader Roman Shukhevych with the words "actual Nazi," then writing about it, claiming he didn't know who did it. edmontonjournal.com/news/crime/d...

Maybe @rickbellwriter.bsky.social had it right. Asked me over a decade ago, "What's with this Duncan guy, is he a Rebel Media of the Left?" After doing a crime, making his own journalism about the crime, denying any involvement in the crime, and then raising money off the crime... I guess?

Replying to @auguststreet.ca

also, fighting to save your bus or train from cuts isn't counterproductive to building a movement. it's why a lot of socialist organizations engage or work in solidarity with public transit advocacy.

I am a true Weezer fan, so none of my favourite tracks from Pinkerton are actually on Pinkerton. 🚀

‘Pinkerton’ came out 30 years ago today. 💿 What’s your favorite track?

Microsoft has filed a patent for ads that could interrupt games after boss fights, cutscenes, quests and multiplayer rounds Players would receive credits granting temporary game access, while watching an ad would award another credit to let them resume

my writing tip is simple: i write every single day, no exception, and i also look online for people talking about bad writing and assume they're talking about me then feel really bad for the rest of the day. Sometimes i also go for a little walk.

A real leader would have had Canadians ready to put in a war-like effort to avoid being dominated by an authoritarian United States. Carney has wasted SO MUCH political capital. Canadians were ready. They probably still are. But we have weak, ineffectual, or complicit leaders.

I am once again asking those who spend their time lamenting visible poverty, addictions and homelessness to perhaps channel that rage into advocating for better healthcare, income supports, shelters and housing.

Few things more annoying than someone who replies to a post about a social problem that we should fix by telling you that the people in power would never let it happen. If you want to climb into a hole and feel sorry for yourself, go nuts. I'm going to put in the work to make things better.

"We might ask ourselves, how much of my political energy am I devoting to a particular concern? And what does that attention facilitate? Am I attempting to make a decision... supporting an effort, or strengthening a relationship? Or am I simply riding waves of exhilaration, indignation, or angst?"

Puff the Magic Hater@mskellymhayes.bsky.social

I’m seeing a lot of people hang their hopes and all their attention on the midterms. Electoral organizing matters, but full-time spectatorship won’t build the power we need. I wrote about checking in with yourself about where your attention is going and what you’re doing with it.

"We’ll be in an even weaker position to resist than we are today. That’s the price of whatever short-term relief we may be buying. It’s more than a bad deal. It’s a bad trade. There is no better time to fight than right now. It does not get easier." www.readtheline.ca/p/jen-gerson...

readtheline.caJen Gerson: If Carney signs this deal, let's be clear: it's the beginning of our surrenderThere is no piece of paper you could sign that is going to get Trump off our backs. There is no way to secure the illusion of business certainty in this political environment. It’s fantasy.
