I read the first one when my job was primarily #bookstagram and never for a moment imagined it becoming the thing it has. I keep meaning to go through it again...

Surprisingly little "New ACOTAR book" posts on here. Clearly my Bluesky feed has the perfect storm of people who would never read Romantasy, Romantasy readers who would never read Maas, and people who won't admit it in public

Quite emotional watching my cosy morning interior decor American YouTubers with their little ad segments shifted to imploring US voters to check their voter registration and how to look up their local candidates and everything. It is nice to see people doing their bit, such as it is.

"DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them." seems like the best advice I've seen on here for forever.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

apropos of me considering setting up a little youtube channel just showing shorts of my sped-up linocutting & printing, here's an unedited snippet from the making of this little dude #printmaking

Got my flu jab this morning and the fabulous angel in Boots who had me, the worst injectionphobe you know, inoculated smoothly and without trauma in moments, told me almost half her colleagues refuse the *free* jab. And they work in the main place poorly people go to to buy medicine! Wild, just wild

Earlier I was trying to explain about the US president talking about his special animal recognition test and finished up by saying he was probably going to rename snakes "America longs", which seemed so probable as I thought I was making a joke, I wondered if it were actually true

When I worked for AQA, I used to get up early on clocks change day and make a fortune just telling people what time it was. Wild that people would pay £1.50 a go to text someone and ask these things, but they did, in droves...

SPITE IS AN FREE AND RENEWEABLE ART MATERIAL THAT EXISTS

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

Quick coffee and some Mercury Awards mid-work - Suede looking lovely, but is Richard's guitar out of tune or is it a bad mix?!

My teenage children, who have never set foot in NYC, go around saying "Help me, Mamdani!" whenever anything goes wrong and/or they can't figure out their homework, just to give everybody a sense of the scale of this man's presence in the culture lol

Crikey, they're bringing back Glee? Is it because I watched an entire season in about two sittings the other day?

"UK digital education has more pilots than British Airways" gets a good laugh from the crowd, who, I suspect, recognise the exhaustion of continual evaluation of EdTech that often doesn't quite meet the mark, whether in terms of accessibility, usefulness, ethics, functionality, or workload...

We're delighted to begin Day Two with our opening keynote, exploring ‘Digitally-Enabled Learning Across Educational and Professional Contexts’ with Henrietta Mbeah-Bankas. An inspiring start to the final day of ALTC26. #ALTC26 #altc

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

A merry #ALTC26 to everyone; very pleasant evening in the pub, lovely to see people I've not seen in too long (including people I actually work with!) and now, time to try and get some rest before the most important thing: pre-conference coffee...

UNCLEAR

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”

checked the weather forecast as if I needed to for Cardiff in October, took all the nice things out and chucked in three pairs of black jeans and three black t-shirts, fashion be damned.

just watched Trinny packing 14 thousand outfits for a week in Scotland and feeling a bit better about my wardrobe

*Carrie Bradshaw voice* As I packed for the ALT Conference, I found myself wondering, what DOES one wear to the pub with professional network colleagues - and would a Suede t-shirt do?

The fact that this wasn't learnt from household voice-controlled tech following instructions given on the radio...

That's it, that's the thing. Perfect.

M. Night Shyamalan's YouTube channel (which is something he has now) came out of nowhere with this great line.

WOW for Jaime and Carlos, that's the most interesting dance and interpretation of a song we've had on #Strictly for a good long while...

Later than planned, I am doing Yuletide signups, and as someone who still can't believe we don't write disclaimers these days, I realise there are SO many fandom words I don't speak these days (or things I expect to have to say!). Quite hard work, ageing.

kind of nice to log on and see that there are one to two other people who've had a worse week than me

I’ve tried multiple times to ditch FB/Insta and the result is not making rent. As a self employed artist I have to have my work visible where ppl are or I don’t eat. The tattoo industry has consolidated itself around Instagram & if you’re not there you’re invisible. I hate it.

Jason Kint@kint.bsky.social

you can't be serious. This reads Meta/Facebook/Insta is looking to grant itself the rights to scrape websites across the open web - and train Meta's AI - if a company after Oct 30, 2026 uses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other Meta services. So every biz. Read that again. Outrageous. 1/5

Yet again filling out a reference for someone that takes as long as it would for me to fill out a job application. I wouldn't mind so much if I thought anyone actually read these things, as opposed to using them as backup in case the AI gets the hiring wrong.

Today has been so rough. One thing after another, then at the petrol station a random man called me "a fucking idiot" because I would not have him aggressively insist my wife drive off from the pump without paying just so he could fill up WHICH ISN'T HOW PETROL STATIONS WORK

When I was young, most of the bands I went to see did not sell their own merch at the merch table, and now when bands do it is wildly exciting and confusing to me. Mark Hamilton just sold me an Ash lucky bag, for goodness' sake.

Behind on #thearchers but when Henry and Khalil are talking about "having to go to college" after GCSEs - isn't further education mandatory in the UK now? I mean it wasn't when I was young, but I thought this had changed?
