Jack Smith: "History teaches that the rule of law is rarely destroyed all at once. It's often weakened by attacks on the institutions and the public servants sworn to uphold it. Since January 2025, we have witnessed precisely such an effort."

There’s obviously a lot going on right now, but a Russian oligarch bankrolling the wedding of the president’s son is the kind of story that should dominate headlines in any functioning political culture.

#uglydogs I haven’t posted about this before but my beloved kitty Violet has been missing for two weeks and I am devastated. Please send all your good thoughts to us so that someone finds her and gets her microchip scanned. 🙏

I would like to see more companies admit this - being a public company no longer means running a successful, thriving business. It strictly means delivering growth to investors, every single quarter, who do not care at all about the product the company sells or the people who produce it.

This post is unavailable.

Just throwing this out there into the void, because nobody sees my posts anyhow, but some asshole at my job made a pie chart that adds up to more than 100% that I am supposed to defend to the client and I’m ready to walk straight into the ocean

it once again bears repeating: that platner is even a candidate is because this guy, who was run out of Pittsburgh for recruiting/managing multiple candidates accused of DV/SA, who himself has allegations against him, recruited platner he should be blacklisted until the end of time

public health guy@publichealthguy1.bsky.social

this guy also needs to just not be allowed near democratic politics ever again. same with everyone who thought any of this was a good idea

I’m genuinely surprised he can follow the teleprompter so coherently. It’s only when he tries to get cute with politics that he misspeaks repeatedly

If the left even thought about blocking traffic to this extent the entire town would smell like tear gas and the NYT would already have written two op-eds about this Not Being The Right Way Instead, ambulances are creeping through at like 2mph, sirens blaring, as everyone gets soaked

These changes would indeed improve road safety but there’s a 0% chance any city would adopt them or ban SUVs.

David Ho@davidho.bsky.social

Some ideas for improving road safety that can be implemented in US cities without modifying infrastructure: • No cars moving through the intersection when pedestrians have a "walk" signal. • No turn on red. • 20 mph speed limit. • Leading pedestrian interval for cyclists. Others?

Imagine being the most decorated gymnast in history, almost dying, and media referring to you as “NFL Wife” as your greatest achievement.😑 Misogyny is a helluva drug. Smh. Truly hope Simone is safe and makes a full recovery. What a horrible experience.

Saying this for the millionth time: Voter fraud is a statistically insignificant, vanishingly rare crime that is perpetrated almost exclusively by Republicans.

If you are under 35 and you see this post, please respond yes or no as to whether you recognize the name Alfred E. Neuman. Be honest. I’m so curious about this.

Bill Grueskin@bgrueskin.bsky.social

Trump refers to Talarico as “Alfred E. Neuman,” and ... jeez. I get it, but I also remember our 3rd-grade teacher interrupting class to tell us that JFK had been assassinated.

villainizing the ultra-wealthy is like pickling a pickle; you don't need to do that, it's already been done for you

Amazon executive chair Jeff Bezos accuses U.S. politicians of villainizing the ultra-wealthy and using tax policy as a political wedge issue to distract from bigger challenges facing the country.

The American revolution is best understood by the American people as an uprising by the people against a wealthy elite who taxed the people and denied them equal representation. If this is the fight the right wants to have against AOC. Let’s. Fucking. Have. It. The tea is in the harbor.

It's not hyperbole in the least to say Musk purchased a six-month shadow presidency for $280 million and used the power of that shadow presidency to 1. Steal the government’s data, 2. Permanently damage the state’s ability to regulate his businesses, and 3, kill non-white people.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

Still feel like "Musk and his crew of incels destroyed a bunch of stuff they didn't understand and thereby hastened the deaths of millions of children" did not get the public attention it warranted.
