The things about doing higher level support in IT is you report to people in charge of the business and not just other IT people and while I respect thier expertise in thier own fields they are less comfortable with the response "some times it just be that way" on why a thing broke.

Still working my way through all of mignolas Hellboy setting. I'm into the spin offs and etc. to further my idea of how people with access to power started acting like billionaires who think they are in control of things I'm in the black flame stories where an actual CEO tries to control the chaos.

Okay, an army of mutated frog monster men linked to the lovecraftian horrors beyond time? I can control that , why not link myself to thier plot to summon a physical godling that will crush cities. I can control that. This doesn't feel familiar to current events at all.

CTV News Kitchener@ctvnewskitchener.bsky.social

Canada-U.S. talks gain more momentum ahead of midterms: sources - Multiple government and industry sources close to trade discussions between Canada and U.S. tell CTV News there is considerable appetite from the White House to strike a deal with Canada.

This makes me feel so much better about my electric heat , car, lawn care tools , etc. I knew I was future proofing and it was cheaper but it's nice to know even in a poorly run grid I'd be doing the right thing.

NEW BRIGHT SPOTS: Even on 100% gas power, heat pumps cut emissions by ~48% and EVs by about half. The authors of an “electrification doesn’t cut emissions” paper made a series of compounding mistakes and used misleading assumptions. Here's why. janrosenow.substack.com/p/heat-pumps...

Being 10-15 during the main stream heyday of console fighting games on the SNES messed me up in a way that every new street fighter or Marvel fighter gives me a vibe that this one is the one to bring me back but casual play with your buddies in 1992 is very different from today's online world

It's like online shooters . Some of them would be fun with a crew who are equivalently casual and terrible at it but the internet is full of people who give a shit. That's why I always fell off MMOs.

Every Halloween I get the vibe to read something Hellboy related. This time I'm getting kinda spoiled billionaire vibes from Rasputin. 'i am powerful and important and you have to do what I say' *gets punched by demon with no patience for his bullshit*

I'm in a political commentary from a guy who don't know shit mood today. I don't think Trump and co are personally more evil this time I just think the guard rails have gotten even weaker . I wonder if it got this bad last time if he would have gotten a second turn and what that says about humanity.

Addendum: obvious it was bad and people got hurt last time too it just feels more obvious and public in a way that "I'm not political" people can't hide from it. Sorry for commenting from the sidelines. It effects the rest of us but not as much as the attacked groups both locally and in bombed spots

As an Atlantic Canadian who is not a political specialist take me with a grain of salt but I feel this whole Alberta thing was the premier trying to use a bunch of crazies to give her bargaining power against the feds. She lost control of that tiger and just lucked out that it was a small tiger.

I know I'm late to the party but I kinda appreciate the orange fucker trying to rebrand gen AI. Maybe we can go back to using AI to refer to actual science or game stuff. Also why not tie the plagiarism machine to his flailing brand.

My cat has decided she likes to play fetch. But being a cat she will chase the ball and kick the shit out of it and then stare at me until I come over and throw it back in the direction we came from. I know a dog would bring it back but I also don't have to pick up her warm shit in the rain at 6am.

I go to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas every year. I've seen flying cars there for the last five years at least. Obviously you can make a car fly. We make way more complicated shit fly daily. We don't make flying cars because have you been outside?

Katie Mack@astrokatie.com

We already have flying cars. They're called helicopters. They're really expensive and there are good reasons you have to have a pilot license and work with air traffic control to fly them. Putting jets on a sedan is not going to result in a better vehicle or transportation experience in any way.

I see we're having a debate about whether it's okay to go back to "X," the site owned by a trillionaire fascist who is currently bankrolling the GOP's midterm, throttled Ukraine's war effort, and still winkingly allows vast amounts of CSAM on his service Answer: No, what the fuck is wrong with you

Love that some execs are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and yet still need to do studies to determine that teaching people how to do their jobs well makes them better at doing their jobs.
