MIND-BLOWING STATS: A record two-thirds of new cars in China are now electric (NEVs*), while combustion-car sales have fallen by two-thirds since they peaked in 2017 – In 2020, ~95% of sales were combustion-engine cars – By Sep 2026, they crashed to 33% – On the flip side, NEVs hit a record 67% 🧵

I hate that video games, like every other sector, have been thoroughly enshittified. Gacha games. Loot boxes. Endless DLC. Studio closures. All we get now are annual sports games and Call of Duty 9000. I just want to buy a fun game, play it, and tell friends to go play it. Is that too much to ask?

One of this dude's 400 children transitioned and cut Elon out of their lives, and all of a sudden, he went from "MARS! MARS! MARS!" to "I must devote a trillion dollars to making life hell for trans people." What a fucking asshole.

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

Tales from driving through rural Michigan last weekend for my son's water polo tournament: Saw as many El-Sayed signs as Rodgers signs, and this was in deep farm country. Compare this to 2024 when there were Trump signs EVERYWHERE out in the sticks. The vibes—they are promising.

Remember, these numb nuts want you to think they’re genius visionaries when in reality they’re losing $9 billion a day trying to sell worthless slop software no one wants.

This tidbit was in the article. 🎈💥 ? "Goldman Sachs warned Friday that AI hyperscalers, including Meta, need to generate roughly $300 billion a year in AI services revenue just to break even on their capital spending—and $1 trillion annually to earn meaningful profits—spooking investors."

Mike Rogers is a corporate sellout who moves back to Michigan every few years to run for office to take another swing at the revolving door of corporate politics.

Without a doubt, it is The Secret of Monkey Island. Although I like the sequel even better, this remains my most beloved game series of all time.

What's your "origin" video game? Most gamers have a lot of favorite games, sure, but there's always one that basically 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 you: the game that flipped that little switch in your brain and made into a life-long gamer.

I've updated my map of El Niño impacts this year to incorporate 13 dynamical models (NMME and C3S, Sept runs); the initial version was simply based on an assessment of the impacts literature for past very strong events. This also let me refine the impacted areas using the model fields:

The accounting is in: In Oregon there are 111 data centers. The TOTAL number of people employed at data centers is just 2,630, or 0.1% of the labor force. Those 100 data centers consumer 23% of all electricity used in Oregon. Meanwhile, electricity rates skyrocket as more centers are built.

opb.orgOregon data centers by the numbers: 111 facilities consume nearly one-quarter of state’s power, according to new reportA first-of-its-kind report details the footprint of the controversial facilities.

The GOP is an anti-democracy party. They are the voter suppression party. They cannot keep themselves in office fairly and according to democratic principles. BREAKING: Texas suspends more than 1 million voter registrations ahead of midterm elections.

This is the first explanation I've seen of this thing that makes any sense. (Side note: everyone please stop calling this a flash flood. It was clearly some sort of avalanche/landslide/inland tsunami.)

I keep hearing analysts say there's no way out of the Middle East for Trump. Sure there is. Just pull the troops. It's not like Iran's next to us, ready to invade. They're on the other side of the world. There's just no way for Trump to end with war without looking like a massive fucking loser.

Absolutely shocking that the organization that pumped $30 million into Stevens' campaign is now committing to spend even more to beat El-Sayed in the general. (Note: They were always going to do this, even if Stevens had won)

IMEU Policy Project@imeupolicy.bsky.social

AIPAC is the biggest source of Republican money in Democratic elections, and now they are making clear they will spend even more to defeat Democrats in November. They advocate for policies the vast majority of Democrats viscerally disagree with. No Democrat should be taking money from AIPAC.

As a Michigan resident who voted for El-Sayed, here are my thoughts on last night's primary: 1) As much as I thought and hoped that El-Sayed would win, I'm still kind of shocked he did. He's Muslim, Egyptian-American, and a self-proclaimed socialist. He was outspent by over $60 million. And he won.

As much as we claim everyone is hyper polarized, there's actually a lot of independents in this state, and last night is proof that El-Sayed was winning them HARD. He speaks to the issues that are affecting people in this state, and he's going to wipe the floor with Rodgers in a debate.

Does he have weaknesses? Sure. He needs to make inroads with the black vote, as Steven's victory in Detroit shows, but IF the DCCC gets behind him and he gets a few key endorsements (which he should, now that he's the nominee), he'll be fine. And the climate for November is looking very favorable. 🤞

And progressives won pretty much across the board last night throughout the state. Will Lawrence won decisively in the 7th. McKinney ousted Thandenar in the 13th. Did the more progressive candidate win every race? No. But it was a good night.

3) The racist attacks will begin immediately on behalf of Republican opponent Mike Rodgers and the GOP establishment, and they will work with a lot of Michigan voters (but the MAGA nuts were never going to vote for him anyway). That said, I think El-Sayed has a great chance to win in November.

Now, it's not shocking when you actually listen to the dude. He's smart as a whip, a straight talker, and speaks to all the BS people here are fed up with. But given his race, the massive amounts of outside money, and the smear campaigns against him... yeah. Pretty wild.

2) There's already a lot of hand-wringing going on in the MSM that progressives underperformed, given that El-Sayed is on track to win by a single percentage point. Bullshit. Again, he's a Muslim Egyptian-American who was outspent 11:1. This is a massive win, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

And lest anyone forget, this isn't some liberal bastion. This is Michigan, a perpetually purple/battleground state. And while the metro Detroit area does have the largest Arab population in the US, El-Sayed actually lost Detroit to Stevens. He racked up his margins everywhere else.
