My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

“We made it, friend.” That’s what Harriet Ida Pickens said to Frances Wills on graduation day in 1944. Together, they became the first Black women commissioned as officers in the U.S. Navy. #SheShed #VivaHerAlliance

Trump backed his crony far-right Bolsonaro, who is now contesting the results. No surprise. We are not certain if he contributed towards his campaign with our tax dollars. Despite those efforts Lula won for democracy in Brazil. Let's Go!!! 🔥🔥🔥 #Brazil #SheShed #VoteBlueToSaveAmerica

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

If she wins a full term in November, Fire Thunder would join a growing number of Indigenous women successfully seeking higher office across the country. In Montana, the success of these candidates is a result of decades of women-led organizing on the ground.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

I think the lesson from Lula is not never talk about the opposition; it's articulate a positive vision that's basically, We Can Just Do Things. That's why Mamdani-ism is so popular - voters have an intrinsic sense that their electeds have agency they're not using

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

Amy reposted

Vivek is so unwanted that his own campaign stops are ghosting him. Zeteo reports: Businesses are canceling campaign stops to avoid angry calls, bad publicity & customer backlash. A planned church visit in Westerville and a Trumbull County rally location have disappeared from campaign itineraries.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

People briefly emerged from their bunkers in the violent dystopian hellscape that is New York City to parade their dogs in Halloween costumes on the Upper West Side. There was much cuteness.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.
