«Algorithm» is named after the 9th-century Persian mathematician Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi who «helped introduce algorithmic methods for solving mathematical problems, popularized the use of Hindu-Arabic numerals (including the concept of zero) in the West, and laid the groundwork for algebra».

Yeah why don’t Danes love the USA like they used to do. It’s a mystery

I’m old enough to remember a time when, if you wanted to show footage of a prominent political opponent doing a Nazi salute, you’d have to fake the images. Oh sweet old bygones of two years ago

NEW AD: Have you seen these anti-Talarico attack ads? Elon Musk paid for nearly all of them. The world's first trillionaire knows if he drags the most corrupt politician in Texas across the finish line, Ken Paxton will owe him everything. Elon Musk: Texas is not for sale.

9/ What Musk has demonstrated is that the Starlink kill switch is real, that he personally controls it, and that he's willing to use it for purely personal reasons, against the interests of his own company and country. This is utterly disastrous for SpaceX's credibility.

Really sad to see how far Denmark is willing to go in its fight against immigrants. Now leading the charge together with Italian neo-fascists. Trump would be impressed.

Ukraine and the rest of Europe must be firmer with Trump. That doesn't mean starting useless fights or drama, but it means appeasing him less and standing ground when he makes bad decisions. We need to learn to say no to him far more often

To understand how the Trump administration behaves and makes (and unmakes) policy, you have to understand that it comes from a constant battle between incompetence and evil. Their policies are usually a combination of both in different measures.

Y’all, I hate to rain on the dead bot parade, but the Yandex data center destruction doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted social media bots. I made temporal graphs of X posts about AfD around the time of the attack and there’s no sign of a sudden dip or residual impact on that conversation.

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.
