No lie, Jody Allen reincorporating the Seahawks into a publicly owned nonprofit, like the Green Bay Packers, would be such a baller move. I'm pretty sure she would still do just fine, and what a legacy that would set in stone for the entire Allen family.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

NEW: Metadata from the “raw” Epstein prison video shows approximately 2 minutes and 53 seconds were removed from one of two stitched-together clips. The cut starts right at the “missing minute.”

Kristi Noem had an allergic reaction at a restaurant and was taken to the hospital but is doing ok Apparently she ordered the Habeas Corpus and didn’t realize it contained due process which didn’t agree with her

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

Cancel culture isn't new; we've always had it. We literally write essays about it in high school for the Scarlet fucking Letter. What changed recently is who we cancel - we no longer cancel you for for being queer, using drugs, divorcing & remarrying, but for being abusive, hateful, or a sex pest.

I can hear this cover in my head. The moment when an entire arena is brought nearly silent only for a few precious seconds before the cacophony rises again to meet the action. Art by Daniel Warren Johnson, a cover for his Do A Powerbomb! serialized OGN.

The pretext is that these tariffs are the result of a complex international commerce dispute, but the actual text is just a Chat GPT spouted formula that's never been applied to tariffs - ever, but the subtext is that it's really just a worldwide extortion scheme.

Pay fealty to Trump and him alone and he'll forgive the tariffs he just slapped your business or country with. Meanwhile consumer prices and the markets that our retirements are tied to are just collateral damage of the scheme.

From talking with people I still don't get any sense that the public truly understands the rolling, concussive systemic failures coming due to the dismantling of all corporate oversight, regulatory autonomy, labor rights, consumer protection, and the social safety net this summer will be...hot

Mahmoud Khalil is a weather balloon. If they can get away with trampling his civil rights in the name of whatever boogeyman du jour they choose today, expect a much wider application later.

Democrats even *thinking* about joining Republicans to censure Al Green for having the courage to stand up while they sat down do not deserve to be able to generate a single fundraising dollar from a person of moral character ever again.

There is a very distinct theme at work here in the legisative actions of conservatives: blind ideology running headfirst into the brick wall of reality. Over and over. This, "DOGE", every other policy and legislative priority of the right: intentional and completely unnecessary harm to the public.

Dozens more pregnant and postpartum women have died in Texas hospitals since the state banned abortion, ProPublica’s analysis shows. As the maternal mortality rate dropped nationally, it rose in Texas by 33%.

Out of an abundance of caution I froze my credit with the three unofficial bureau's of credit. I'm not planning on any major purchases and I'm sure not opening any new lines of credit with the CFPB defanged for the time being.

Trump 2.0 is just the dumbest Ocean's film in the series.

Trump on DOGE: We’re going to go into Fort Knox to make sure the gold is still there. You know that? We’re going to go into Fort Knox. You know about that? We hope everything is fine with Fort Knox. But we’re going to go to Fort Knox and make sure the gold is still there.

I feel so sorry for anyone whose quality of life relies on government programs and services functioning properly. If you depend on SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, or the VA you'd better be planning ahead right now. Hell, I'm nervous about where the USPS will be in 4 years.

A lot of people are going to find out the hard way how critical all these governmental services they were largely unaware of really are. This isn't just going to affect imagined gov't "bloat", but every measure these agencies took to ensure baseline safety and stability are going out the window.

One of my all-time favorite films by the Coen Bros. Newly acquired on physical media, because streaming and digital options - while temporarily convenient - are subject to all sorts of legalities and aren't long term options. New motto is: If its worth having, it's worth having a copy you can hold.

If Kash Patel is confirmed to run the FBI there will be no backing away from the abyss. Trump wants his Brownshirts out there doing his dirty work knowing they'll never face any consequences for it. Removing the FBI from the equation gets that reality much closer.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

I'm no historian, so have we ever had such an anti-citizen government before? One that so unequivocally set its priorities in opposition of anything in the public's interest?

I'm hearing now that *every* technologist CFPB hired to investigate Big Tech was fired this evening. That's somewhere between 70-100 people. wired.com/story/dozens-of-cfpb-workers-terminated-in-after-hours-firing-blitz/

Whats gonna happen when the majority finally realize their Medicaid and Social Security and basic civic services have all been stolen out from under them by the billionaires running government who have no interest in letting go of the levers of power now that they have them?

Most Americans still have no idea about how F'd this country is about to get. I think if they knew it would be too overwhelming to process so they prefer maintaining the delusion, "It won't be that bad." It'll be very bad, folks. Hold on to your butts.
