The same people who spent yesterday, and the past five years, insisting a Black police officer who shot an insurrectionist breaking into the Capitol should be prosecuted are today bending over backwards to defend an ICE agent who shot a woman in her car in cold blood. Scum.

I can’t remember the year, but probably Jr. High (now called “Middle School”), but a male teacher — unfortunately can’t remember his name — read us ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ (by Alexander Dumas, released in chapters from 1844 to 1846). He did it yearly. Took all semester, as I recall. Mr. Jensen?

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

This is hilarious. Even the Dutch are way ahead of us in seeing how bad things are in the United States with Donald Trump running amok and corporations capitulating to fascism. But, then again, the Netherlands has experience with being taken over by fascists.

It’s crucial to remember-Susan Monarez was appointed CDC Director by Trump She’s not a Democrat they can claim has some agenda She’s MAGA And she’s saying that RFK, Jr is ignoring science about vaccines Which will cause more epidemics like the measles outbreak in Texas So more children will die

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Monarez: "Kennedy demanded 2 things of me that were were inconsistent w/ my oath of office. He directed me to commit in advance to approving every ACIP recommendation regardless of the scientific evidence. He also directed me to dismiss career officials responsible for vaccine policy without cause"

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

Maybe we shouldn’t let someone who doesn’t believe in germs and who thinks it’s okay to eat roadkill and swim in contaminated ponds be in charge of our national food safety.

A federal-state partnership that monitors for foodborne illnesses quietly scaled back its operations nearly two months ago. As of July 1, the critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight, a spokesperson for the CDC says.

Once Democrats take Congress, they should remove the Second Amendment with a "coding error." Prest-O change-O, that was easy!

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

Article I Sections 9 & 10 of the U.S. Constitution—which limit presidential power over tariffs and protect habeas corpus—have disappeared from Congress’s website. They claim a coding error is to blame.

STEWART: “I feel like I’m watching something so self-evidently inhumane and horrific and to be told I have to shut up because I risk the Jewish state by speaking out? I would say the opposite — they’re putting the likelihood of a surviving Jewish state much more at risk.”

Daily Mail now is reporting "Bill Clinton wrote 'warm & gushing' letter included in Jeffrey Epstein's infamous 50th 'birthday book." Ok. If files show Bill Clinton is guilty of being a client, as a long-time supporter of the ex-President I can say he should go to prison. Sad but not difficult

In itself it's not the biggest thing but Congress specifically passed a law requiring ICE to allow access to members of Congress because of Trump's antics in the first term. This isn't even norms. It's violating black letter statute law.

Mark D. Levine@marklevinenyc.bsky.social

And here in NYC today another shocking escalation by Trump. The law *explicitly allows* unannounced visits by congressmembers to federal facilities. This is yet another breach of democratic norms by an increasingly rogue administration. Don't normalize this.
