I fight for clean air and water. I know that healthy foods and physical activity are important. I spent most of my career studying chronic disease. Am I MAHA? Hell no. I believe hypotheses should be tested. I know vaccines are safe and effective. And I don’t worship a eugenicist named Kennedy.

That's one hell of a last-week-of-the-campaign message. Either they are total idiots or they've decided that the only way to stop hemorrhaging voters is to lie even louder to their most gullible supporters.

This is making me think about the social movement that overturned the spoils system. A vast majority of citizens benefit when the state can regulate business behavior. Remind me who convinced Americans that "regulation" is a bad word?

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

If SCOTUS says, in this case, a race-neutral policy to enhance diversity is racial discrimination, it would mean (a) racial hierarchies that exclude Black & brown students are required because (b) schools can't try to prevent Black & brown students from being excluded. It's white supremacy.

"shouldn't be this hard" is an all-encompassing, feel-it-in-your-bones summary of modern American life -- of difficulties big and small, existential and annoying -- that should be at the core of every Democratic candidate's message for years to come.

The US may have won the Cold War, but Russia's ability to shape US public opinion and electoral politics erased that. I'm not sure how many Americans know they are now willingly doing Putin's bidding. The US and a racist trillionaire are helping Russia against a democratic neighbor. Astonishing.

Let's review. Free speech means the government cannot punish you for your self expression. It does not include compelling me to react to your dumb ass speech in the way you prefer. Me laughing in your face is my self expression. Got it?
