"Guys like Obama don't see it. They don't see dirt, they don't see filth. He doesn't see broken ornaments...The White House, President Obama is a symbol of America. It has to be clean." Feels like the focus on hygiene and cleanliness might be standing in for something here!

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

President Trump wants to build a 250-foot-tall arch. If completed, it will cast shadows on many graves and monuments in nearby Arlington National Cemetery, the @washingtonpost.com's 3-D analysis found. On some days, Trump's arch would even shade the grave and eternal flame of JFK.

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

This language (especially the pixel reference) appears to be driven by the SCOTUS case this term on the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Well this is eleventy-million kinds of Fucked Up. @latimes.com (who once contracted with me as a freelance reviewer and whom I struggled to get paid by) asserts that *merely reading its website* constitutes a permanent waiver of your right to sue it under *any circumstances*.

Hopefully the judge asks them to clarify what “investigation” or “further procedures” could discern the voters’ will better than casting a ballot.

Eric Columbus@ericcolumbus.bsky.social

Here’s the relevant language in the DOJ lawsuit. It asks for the election not to be certified if Peltola’s margin of victory is smaller than the number of votes cast for the third-party Sullivan. (I expect this to be laughed out of court.) storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

this is total gobbledygook? the process to decide who should be certified as the winner is the election, and there is no federal law that says the courts get to decide who that is.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Blanche on CBS says his suit against Alaska is "asking the court to step in where the Alaska Supreme Court didn't, which is to look at federal law and if necessary to allow a process for Alaska to decide who should be certified as the winner." (So, the voters won't get to decide. Got it.)

The Justice Department's last-second letters about noncitizen voting contain people with no history of voting whatsoever, and they're moving so fast they sloppily sent one county the wrong list of names.

Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"

The Executive Branch has no authority to regulate states’ election decisions as to candidate qualifications, and the choice to file a lawsuit like this just days before an election speaks volumes about the political corruption festering at the top levels of the DOJ.

Democrats should really feature these creeps their extensive ties to this administration.

Governor Mike DeWine, who urged Ramaswamy to take down the ad, is described here by Trump as “disloyal to the Republican Party.”

One feature of the cases Trump is bringing against Democrats is that they are not based on traditional political corruption, which the Supreme Court has made much harder to prosecute.

I don't know what the sadder explanation here would be. That he's so used to Trump's "never apologise, always double down playbook" that he does it even when he knows it's a bad idea. Or that he's so marinated in the Twitter mind-melt he can't even recognise things that cross the line anymore.

Multiple right-wing pundits over there said they thought Acton was credible because her mom lost custody and family courts are so biased towards moms, which is…illuminating, I guess.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs. Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am and did not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played the game without having slept. Crazy.

Oof. SCOTUS has to punt on reviewing a major copyright decision from the Fifth Circuit because too many justices recused themselves.

The four justices didn’t say why they recused themselves. One possible explanation is that they have audiobook deals with some of the recording companies in this case.
