Seeing my scholarly work and that of all my friends being stolen to build a machine our haters are using to gleefully render us extinct with ridiculous profits going to the thieves does not fill me with joy.

Currently still unemployed been about a month now. Turning 30 soon so Im ready to actually start a career. I think im gonna have to relocate at this point. The professional/white collar level jobs here have the hazard of never knowing if the I didnt get the job cause of my skin color. Shit sucks.

Like a pretty good job search is: - Check to see if there are any new jobs posted - Apply to one or two jobs - Maybe email a friend or former colleague and do some informal networking. That's maybe 3 hours/day.

Im a college graduate and got told once I didnt have enough experience to work an entry level office assistant job at the library 💀

@mattyglesias-616.bsky.social Why are you such a sniveling coward

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

it's understandable to think of constructive debate as an ideal and then to figure that *any* debate is therefore a step towards political values and virtues. but I think most debates, particularly in the social media age, make conversations and outlooks worse than where they started

Alex Says Stuff@alexsaysstuff.bsky.social

The fetishisation of "debate" as some sort of grand public good that everyone should do is so thoughtless and jarring to me because the more you actually do it the more it becomes apparent that genuinely constructive debate is actually a pretty niche thing.

Ill bet someone on here that both the Raptors and the Bears will win their respective championships this year and if I am wrong i’ll do 100 push ups on video

Oops! All Paperclips@all-paperclips.bsky.social

Someone once told me (in the context of physical engineering) that everything leaks and it's all breaking all the time. It requires constant effort by countless professionals just to maintain the status quo. I think about that a lot, and it's even more true in the context of adversarial actors

It actually blows my mind everyday how stupid these people are

Cloud's Strife@jmgreene28.bsky.social

"There's zero difference between Pete Buttigieg and Donald Trump" is one of those takes that sounds knowledgeable and spicy but it's actually just stupid.

Being "not-white" even a little bit in a predominantly white rural area, as long as it's enough for white people to notice, also teaches you that no mater what, no matter how "nice" you are, no matter how much you strive to be "one of the good ones," you'll never truly be one of them. Not ever.

I very much agree with this, but one thing it passes over is the extent to which the Left adopts Third World ethno-nationalisms under the auspices of anticolonialism. Arab and Palestinian nationalism is deeply intertwined with antisemitism and an uncritical adoption will make you antisemitic.

Im supposed to feel bad for someone being dunked on for saying AI use is slavery and they’ll keep using it cause they’re one of the good slavers 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

every few years French people seem to protest and riot for no clear reason, a bunch of people on the internet smugly post about how Americans are too lazy to riot like that, then basically nothing changes and pension spending eats another 1% of GDP the next year

School shootings being allowed to persist is a very under-discussed political reality shaping why my generation is more cognizant of the social contract being in tatters. You let us get ritually murdered in school and didn't lift a finger, what other conclusion should I arrive at?

Yall sometimes states just fall it is what it is. Maybe we’re to big to fail rn it might be our only hope lol

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

The murder happened in March. Campus sexual violence is literally a daily occurrence in the US. It isn’t limited to rape. It is lethal for victims more often than any of us were led to believe.

The reactionary logic exists in so many forms and its completely irrational but thats why it works. The open society will have to contest and guard itself from elements that grow resentful at perceived “losses” they experience and craft insane worlds of fiction to justify their hatred.

White people annoy the fuck outta me man holy shit

That is in fact the very least one could do. It would be utterly ineffective, but it would have the benefit of letting me pretend that my hands are clean. I would rather commit to an effective strategy.
