It was wild seeing a community in Appalachia whose entire identity was tied to a paper mill that was the reason the town grew to almost 4500 people that’s been there for 115 years. You had 3 & 4 generations of paper mill workers in Canton. CANTON’S HIGH SCHOOL EVEN HAD A PAPER MAKING CLASS IN IT!

Now… I don’t need to tell you how many of those ex-paper mill workers were in fair to middling health due to those conditions, worked long shifts & had relatives that died from a veritable charcuterie board of illnesses & cancers attributed to the toxins emitted by the mill. Those plumes of smoke?
