Trade: The Colts are trading 3-time Pro-Bowl DT DeForest Buckner back to the 49ers, the team that made him a 2016 first-round pick before dealing him to Indianapolis in 2020, per me and Adam Schefter. A reunion!! Now Buckner returns to SF, fortifying their defensive line.

The 'something' was the Civil Rights Act. "I think we may have lost the south for your lifetime - and mine" is something that LBJ said after he signed it. www.theguardian.com/books/2023/j...

Something happened in the 70's that crystallized politics (and many other topics) into a new set of assumptions and priors. It gave rise to Reaganism and completely crushed New Deal Socialism; Dems that eventually reemerged were and still are centrists scared of their own shadows.

By killing the VRA, John Roberts has set the stage for Black voting power to be wiped out at every level of politics. Black people in affected districts will still technically have the right to vote, but no real ability to elect candidates they support and who represent their communities.

motherjones.comJim Crow was on the ash heap of history. Then came the Roberts court. The disaster the justices have unleashed has its roots in one of the darkest periods of our past.

The history of the United States is a history of suppression, immigration, and class struggle. Slaves built the South, Immigrants built the North, and the blood of Natives was shed Westward.

It takes a freak of nature to last 14 years in the NBA at this height.

The Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 11 are retiring the No. 1 jersey of Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player in NBA history at 5-foot-3. Bogues spent 10 of his 14 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-1998) and is the franchise leader in assists, steals and minutes.
