It worries me that Liberal Democracy and the rule of law is under constant attack. The false narrative of "The Strong Man" is being spread like a virus by a social media that has little legal volume control. It is controlled by a billionaire cliqué who wish to take power and agency away from us all.

How long Europe can put up with Tony Soprano politics coming out of Washington? What comes next? It will take a few years to embedd sovereign capability in European banking, trade and defence resilience but accelerating that transition is the way to protect European Liberal Democracy.

This is not okay. Trump’s administration is threatening “devastating” retaliation if European officials move forward with plans that could restrict Elon Musk’s Starlink access to parts of the European market.

The beast is being fed and we are under attack. Putin and Trump...any votes for the two other horsemen?

Immediately after Ukraine took out two of the five data centers run by the Russian tech giant Yandex, pro-Trump and pro-MAGA posts on American social media sites plummeted. The same happened to posts boosting Germany's far-right AfD. Russia is engaged in MASSIVE election interference.

It does feel that on Sunday one should turn off the news and put on some great music, catch some winter sun walking, read a good book and remember that this too shall pass.

In other words, a 10 percent contraction in one of Britain’s most successful exports. If it were steel or fish or other infinitely less profitable sectors, people would be having a meltdown.

Speaking to Euronews, Hamish Falconer backed greater ambition in UK–EU relations, agreeing that the current relationship is not good enough. We welcome that ambition. The next summit is a chance to turn it into progress for businesses, young people and communities across the UK.

If Andy Burnham is a Paddington Bear Prime Minister, why have I never seen him wearing a duffle coat and hat, or eat a marmalade sandwich?

I have feeling on the night of the mid terms Trumps golf clubs will mysteriously go missing and he will declare Marshall law and cancel the election.

Looking at the world and the epidemic of stupidity, bigotry, war and corruption that engulfs our lives it's very hard to feed the fire of hope. Yet we must, because only from 'hope' comes the will to act and change things for the better. No Pasarán ✊️

It's tragic that people who believe in Liberal Democracy and the rule of law are still scared to criticise the racist, corrupt, murderous law breaking govt of Benjamin Netanyahu.☹️

I first went to Kathmandu in 1992, I spent some months in Nepal walking the Himalayas and meeting the wonderful people of Nepal. I was awestruck by it's beauty and the sound of the wind in the prayer flags on mountain sides stays with me. I am heartbroken by what climate has done and will do.

I cannot but think that I was very lucky, that nothing will be the same again. That as ever the poorest and noble suffer the most when the powerful and rapacious act without legal or moral restraint.

It's always good to drop in on Bluesky as it gives me hope that decent people, evidenced views, good humour and intelligent conversation could be the norm on social media. #politics #socialmente

For too many people, the presence of black people in our society is taken as a personal challenge. That's what these past few weeks have sadly evidenced.

How the jobs figures pan out. Net zero: massive new employment. Return to fossil fuels: mass unemployment. Don't ever let these grifters persuade you they have your interests at heart. They dance to the tune of their funders. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

theguardian.comA question for Nigel Farage – why is your nationalist party so obsessed with destroying British jobs? | George MonbiotClaims that our prosperity depends on oil and gas are bunkum – unless you’re a Reform backer with fossil fuel interests, of course, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I'm not a football manager though there are a few million today in England. It's all fine lines and waifer thin margins at the top of sport. Our players gave us a great world cup. They reflect a modern England, an antidote to the bigots with big mouths whose voices are amplified by social media.
