This is big news. Ending the puberty-blocker ban in New Zealand is massive. It puts Cass & the entirety of Labour’s flagship anti-trans policies in doubt. Yet no mainstream media platform has even mentioned it. Indeed most alternative media, like @bylinetimes.bsky.social have failed to mention it.

my nuclear grade hot take is that defensively saying “oh no I’m going to get cancelled for being TOO woke” is a sign you aren’t being progressive at all and instead are being intellectually dishonest. i can assure you: nobody cares enough about your bad faith, incendiary AI take to cancel you.

dame@dame.is

my nuclear-grade AI hot take that’s sure to get me cancelled until kingdom come is that refusing to use AI at all is rapidly becoming an extremely privileged lifestyle choice that feels social justice-y while actually being the complete opposite

a major part of progressive ideology (that rings true regardless if you’re anarchist, Marxist, or socdem) is forming and maintaining communities. if you’re desperately pining to be cancelled and isolated for your dumbass takes on AI of all things, you’re doing community wrong and badly

I think one of the more important skills you can have in 2026 is knowing when someone is performatively using progressive coded language to argue for something that is fundementally not progressive because they can claim a perceived moral high ground.

💛💜 Today is Intersex Awareness Day. Most of us grew up learning that everyone is born either male or female, but human biology is a little more complicated than that, and that biological sex isn't always as straightforward as the boxes we're asked to tick.

Regardless of where someone personally falls on the poly/mono divide, polyamorous relationships exist and won’t stop existing. The only thing ostracising and othering them does is leave (especially vulnerable) people less educated and less capable of navigating relationships and setting boundaries.

Sophie Molly@sophiemolly.co.uk

After speeking with my trans siblings, we have decided to push for a polyamourous revolution. Consent and open communication will become mandatory in all relationships. It has been decided. We are coming for your "family values". www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/1698021...

Which, yes, obviously one of the raison d'être of conservatism is to ensure vulnerable people remain vulnerable. Unfortunately bad faith principles still gotta be dismantled with active education and support.

Hello! It’s my birthday today and I know you’re all lining up to give me gifts (no, really. for me? you shouldn’t have) I’d like to link a few charities I’ve supported in the past and encourage anyone to donate if they have the means. Or to donate to a charity of their own choosing!

A reminder: Jason Arday was innocent. "A fresh investigation by scientific publisher Taylor & Francis has concluded without substantiating plagiarism allegations against Jason Arday, the former Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge."

For those who still aren’t sold on The House on Fata Morgana. Good Friend Tyler (fighting game enthusiast, JoJo expert and fan favourite co-conspirator in @jackwnicholls.bsky.social’s Dead Space 3 review) had this to say after finishing it last night:

oh hey that game I recently wrote about it is on sale! and it’s also on sale on switch, I think! play the house in Fata Morgana

🎃Happy Halloween!🎃 Even the White-Haired Girl is dressed up for this special night. What awaits beyond the mansion’s door: treats, tricks, or a thousand-year tragedy…? 🦋 The House in Fata Morgana is discounted now—don’t miss this special Halloween offer! store.steampowered.com/app/303310/T...

Went to The Basement on Broughton Street for birthday lunch stuff yesterday (it ruled) then today got an email which read like it was from the exit survey of a very insecure kidnapper.

This article on The House in Fata Morgana is a front for an existential crisis over a defunct history park, which in itself is a front for an article on how incredible The House in Fata Morgana is. Thank you so much to @mothership.blog for letting me write this! It was a really great experience.

Free with your email, today's piece from @ashhuntly.bsky.social examines how we retell history, and why The House in Fata Morgana does it so well: "This is the danger of telling history only by folding paper in half: the imprinting marks both sides."

I think we can all agree it would be good and healthy if our estranged parents took the time to really reflect, to do some real therapy and really OH GOD NOT LIKE THAT

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

As far as I can tell, literally every article on this quotes the same "expert" — a former estranged father who has an entire blog dedicated to absolving parents of any responsibility. He also sells $995 "consultations" where he will blame your kids for cutting you off.

I really wished for not this actually, I dont think the s.a. victim whose bodily autonomy was stripped should be used like a slasher franchise villain and controlled by players, but then again thats all of fortnite, meaningless signs with nothing signified. Pure decontextualisation slop.

The Committee for Academic Freedom has launched an investigation into Professor Arday’s hiring, and appointed Steven Pinker - listed as a referee on the CV of Arday’s accuser - to the panel. Because Cambridge should not have the freedom to decide its own appointments?

“I’m a trans supporter but trans people are inconvenient politically” are the words of someone who does not actually support trans people. Nobody should feel obligated to vote for a system which dehumanises and destroys them because someone thinks it’s the politically expedient thing to do.

If any centre left to left party loses based on their failure to advocate for, strengthen and enshrine trans rights, that’s a failure of the party and the institution. So sick of marginalised communities being expected to self-sacrifice their dignity and health to prop up myopic liberals.

Also exhausted by the Schrödinger’s transpeople of it all. Either trans rights are a niche issue that can easily be compromised on, or mon-participatory trans people and their allies are substantive enough to cause liberal/ progressive parties to lose. Y’all can’t have both!

Actual Cancel Culture of a significant cultural figure [unlike where far right extremists engage in hate speech & are held accountable]. It’s extremism like this, & the disinterest of the current UK Labour govt in stopping the shift to the far right, that’s deeply worrying.

I have never seen coverage of a live trial, one involving allegations of multiple sex attacks on multiple women, framed in a more distasteful way. It's not 'Fame under fire' it's a rape trial. And it involves actual women. And this from the *checks notes* BBC
