ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.” What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

“News organizations” are running the hell out of this story because they see their function not so much to report facts but to enforce social norms like “police officers are automatically deserving of respect to a degree it is newsworthy if someone is mean to one of them.”

I somehow missed that Dan Savage was on Bluesky now. If you missed the memo, consider this your reminder that Dan Savage is a racist transphobe who has allied himself with Jesse Singal (!) and written racist screeds attacking Black people while dismissing the racism of white gays.

The whole empty, centrist Dem scam is collapsing in real time. This is a leg sweep, followed by a quick boxing of Schatz’s ears. These hacks need to go away. They are killing us in so many ways.

People going "America was always fascist" or "it's been like this since the 1980s" or making related claims don't seem to realize it, but they're telling everyone that nothing different is happening, nothing worse than usual, so if you weren't up in arms about eg 2013, you shouldn't be now either.

Liev Schreiber kinda hurts but otherwise it's a long list of hacks, has-beens, and people already known to be garbage vs a longer list of objectively kinder, more talented, more interesting figures

i saw people dunking on this obviously incorrect post & was like ha ha, sucks to be that random guy who is wrong, but then saw he's a democrat politician apparently, oh my god

Sean Casten@seancasten.bsky.social

Saving America from Trump and preserving our democracy explicitly requires that people who voted for Trump change their mind. Which in turn requires that those who didn’t vote for Trump show grace and empathy to those whose change of heart came from being hurt by the guy they voted for…

it's better to think of the useless centrist 'expand the tent but only rightwards' media people & politicians as blockers paid to occupy space that could otherwise be utilized productively by a serious person. their opinions are pre-approved by their donors and will never change

Y'know that Guardian article which cited an anonymous friend of Tyler Robinson claiming he was the only "leftist" in his family? It just got updated after the "verified source" decided he couldn't remember his "relationship" with the accused shooter well enough to be quoted

i've been trying to see what the right wing platforms (even outside of X) are showing people regarding the protests in LA and i am not sure it can be overstated just how much the AI slop is being used to reinforce the idea that downtown is a post-apocalyptic war zone

Everyone I knew who covered disinformation got laid off, their bosses got bullied into firing them, or they changed their beats from actual Nazi harassment campaigns. It cannot be stressed the damage the paid-for Substack “free speech” guys did in the service of fascism and against real free speech.

"Serial rapist's treatment of his victims is once again under scrutiny". See how silly that sounds, L.A. Times? There's video of them shooting journalists in the back without warning, deliberately. The objective truth is that police in L.A. are targeting and assaulting press.

Fun fact - when my dad's car got stolen, we filed a police report and got a call about two weeks later that it had been picked up by a tow truck. The cops didn't find the car - it had just been illegally parked and left. After paying to get it out, we realized that it was full of stuff.

"People who say they want to defund the cops still call the cops when they get robbed!" Yeah because we have this system called "insurance" to protect your possessions and the only way to claim that shit is to call the cops, you literally don't have a choice.

“Trans dignity is a losing issue for Democrats, Palestine freedom is a losing issue, the dignity of the homeless and immigrants is a losing issue.” I do not fucking care! Fight for it anyway or give up. What else are we fighting for if not?

Noticeable that teenagers routinely demonstrate an ability to speak more clearly about right and wrong than almost every elected leader in the Democratic Party. (See also: gun control, gay rights, racism, etc.)

one more reason i'm not that worried about AI replacing jobs super broadly is that it an LLM doesn't know how to ignore directions from a boss that are actively detrimental to a business

None of those men have ever seen women as more then properly. I say this as someone who grew up around a lot of Christian men like this

Mike Stabile@mikestabile.bsky.social

The Federalist is coming for your artistic nudes. By which I mean the ones in museums. "A number of Christian men I’ve known have expressed discomfort at viewing nudity in high art... these are honest men who care about honoring God and womanhood.
