I finally finished it!! I #crochet 🧶this blanket over the past couple of years. The edgework has needed finishing for almost 8 months lol. But it is done and beautiful. Made with amazing yarn from @isasaxonists.bsky.social Republic of Yarnia. The yarn is amazing and beautiful
Montreal cops are literally pissing on unhoused people.
"Several dozen demonstrators gathered in downtown Montreal on Saturday to denounce police violence, a day after allegations of misconduct involving two city police officers came to light."

Lower pay? Not usually. It’s just so they don’t have to fire folks once their job is done. They can just be reassigned by their actual company to a new project at another studio.
It’s the Hollywood model, basically. The whole industry is semi-pivoting that way.
The right is spending the day complaining that Abdul El-Sayed was "rude" and "a bully" to Tommy the Republican Operative at his town hall, which is hilarious given how they had nothing to say about a woman getting beaten up at a Trump rally as the president cheered on.
Perryman on East Potomac golf course: This is a public course. It’s a public park, a national park, and really of historical and current significance to the community.
This is another place where has sought to violate federal law in order to try to remake things in his own image here.
She had script control over King Vidor’s adaptation of The Fountainhead, refusing to change a word of the climactic monologue, even when Gary Cooper - a fan! - said he didn’t understand what he was saying. It’s an amazing thing to witness now, an actor sternly prattling on and on, himself lost.
Ayn Rand is so fucking funny. "I'm going to write a 1,000-page book about why helping other people is bad, with prose so unreadable that millionaires will have to pay to promote me. I'll call my philosophy 'I am always right'. Also, I'm on benefits."
In 2025, a majority of S&P 500 CEOs made more in 1 day than the median US worker made the entire year.
Meanwhile, the median US worker would need to work 43,154 years to earn what Trump made in 2025 thanks to his crypto scams & various grifts.
When I say the system is broken, this is what I mean.
@yinizhang.bsky.social tracks elites use of AI in political messaging & suggests that because news loves novelty & AI messaging is strategically ambiguous, this use of AI by leaders is rewarded with news coverage. She also shows that when people perceive AI in their feeds, their trust goes down.
I just spent two days in Madison with the brilliant scholars of @cccr.bsky.social at @uwsjmc.bsky.social and others studying media and the crisis of American democracy. Bad news is that things are bad. Good news is scholars are still tracking and studying what’s happening and how to fix it. 🧵
NYPD keeps doing what it's doing because there's never been an organized voting majority that can instill more fear in City Hall than the police.
Constructing such a majority is the governing-power Left's responsibility; until our orgs undertake it, the city will never be safe—let alone affordable.
Between 2019 and 2023, police misconduct cost New Yorkers $427 million.
@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social must break with the policing tactics tolerated by past administrations and show it's possible to enforce laws without singling out Black and Hispanic men.

The use of AI in political ads is not evenly distributed:
“More than 80 percent of the ads were produced by Republican campaigns or Republican-aligned political action committees”

Energy Secretary Chris Wright admits that Trump is giving "a carrot to Russia"
Martha Raddatz points out that just a year ago Wright himself was berating countries for buying Russian oil -- the very thing the administration is now encouraging!
Correct. It closes if a beloved loop for bikers and runners as well as several spots known for hosting large family gatherings. And it manages to leave the space with fewer golf holes than it had before. It’s a travesty.
This design appears to completely eliminate the much-beloved loop road and public park at Hains Point, and cut down the cherry trees which line the road. The park is a public space used by tens of thousands of Washingtonians and heavily visited by tourists.

“Whatever Trump’s worst instincts are, he had those bad instincts in the first term, but in his second term, he’s been able to follow through on them, and his worst instincts may get worse in the next 2 years.”

This election is not really a choice between two parties. Nor will it be a choice between the “left” and the “right.”
The real choice is between ever more concentrated wealth and power at the top VS. more wealth and power in what used to be the American working middle class.
Some thoughts 👇
ZELENSKY: “Of course orders for the disruption of Starliknk and Starshield services came directly from the 🇺🇸 government — and SpaceX did it… Starlink speed hasn’t been fully restored despite assurance from (Musk).”
Putin is pleased.
Colorado parolees shouldn’t have to choose between their beliefs and staying out of prison.
After years of advocacy by atheists and allies, the state has agreed to offer secular recovery options.
Here’s how organizers made it happen.

They’re fighting for better pay, healthcare, safer conditions, and a strong voice on the job. Now it’s time to win their FIRST CONTRACT! ✊
Just saw an exchange every politician should note.
Someone said their dad was considering Ashley Moody because of negative ads about Angie Nixon.
Angie showed up in the replies, addressed his concerns & made it personal.
People want to feel heard, not talked at & Angie’s response is perfection 🔥
Had a hard time with an idea for this prompt... but spiderwebs are something that amazes me, especially in autumn! So I took the liberty to draw them for my next one.

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.
I don't know how CBS News can claim it's a nonpartisan news outlet when a prominent CBS correspondent like Jan Crawford goes after Abdul El-Sayed in such a ridiculous manner. Of course, Crawford attended the CBS owners' dinner in honor of Trump, so her MAGA leanings were already well established.
since California ballots are now out:
prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them
but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box
yes on 40, no on 41 and 42
WELKER: Who do you think is to blame for the disruption to the Starlink and Starshield services?
ZELENSKYY: Of course the message came from the American government
WELKER: Has the system been fully restored?
ZELENSKYY: No, no. We have limitations.

BASH: There was a protester during your debate with Susan Collins. She responded by saying 'this must be a Troy Jackson supporter' and you told the senator 'shut up.' Do you regret saying that?
JACKSON: No. I'm not going to be talked down to by Sen. Collins. I'm not going to apologize for that, no.
LSTM, Jodrell, Diamond Light Source & other STEM centres are damaged by government cuts & indifference. This isn't a Humanities problem, tho we've been the testbed. This is the destruction of national knowledge, creativity & innovation, shrinking UK futures & happiness & erasing national security.
