I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said. That is called murder when they do that. Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

I want us to stay focused on the grief of this terrible moment, but when Black people tell you not to touch something, that is not a challenge. Some things are ours for a reason. We can remember Renee Good as the person she was and the circumstances of her murder without co-opting Black suffering.

“Say her name” is not about allyship. It’s a term crafted for people who are the focus of violence that deliberately erases us. It’s not for her, and it wouldn’t be for her, even if she were Heather Heyer, who didn’t get it when she died for civil rights. Can you understand that?

I have now seen two separate AI reconstruction pictures of Renee Good’s murderer and they are different, which tells you that they’re not good and you should stop sharing them.

A lot of people are fighting over whether or not watching a video of someone's death makes you a better activist or person and I would like to gently suggest that what you do in response to the video's existence is what matters, whether you watched it or not.

2/2 I've tarred roofs, hauled around 50 pound sacks of gravel and salt, driven forklifts, and pulled orders all day in 100 degree Texas heat. I hated every minute those jobs and hope I never have to go back to one. But I would if it was that or shooting people in the face for trying to run away.

1/2 The thing that gets to me about ICE isn't that it's full of fascist true believers, but that it's packed with regular people too. Look at ICE job fairs. Regular people lined up saying, "A job is a job." No, it fucking isn't. I've worked shitty jobs...

Since that fraud claim went so viral, it seems important to get this spread as well

Casey Newton@caseynewton.bsky.social

The author of a viral Reddit thread alleging fraud at a food delivery company tried to back up his claim by sending me AI-generated documents. Today I'm publishing those documents in the hopes that it helps other reporter see what we're up against in the age of AI www.platformer.news/fake-uber-ea...

Maybe I won’t pick up KDC2 after all…

"It’s time to face reality, AI is here to stay" - Kingdom Come: Deliverance head Daniel Vávra says Larian got a "crazy shitstorm" for doing what "absolutely everyone else is doing", and that while he's "no fan of AI generated art" it's going nowhere. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/its-tim...

Heads-up, author friends!

Behold, if you will, the...astonishing...contract from Shadow Light Press. A rolling 10-year term...payment on profit (but only after costs are recouped)...appropriation of the author's universe if they can't continue the series...and more www.reddit.com/r/Progressio...

No one needs backstory for Gaston More oratory for Gaston These things are not mandatory for Gaston…

Micah@rincewind.run

I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him

Is a brilliant idea! Need to remember this for next year.

my friends and i did a regifting market today. it was so fun, everyone brought newish, or vintage or homemade stuff they had around their houses to make a christmas market we could shop at for free. we even staged it all like a store. i got some good stuff.

I was going to reply with some of the dumb shit we would do in high school, but then I realized a lot of it was my male friends sexually harassing me and now I have a sad.

the 6-7 phenomenon is in no way different from any other catchphrase that kids have yelled out at any point in the last hundred years, there's no daylight between that and when i was in high school, the year straight where every guy kept yelling "i'm rick james bitch"

Brain: I have an idea. Me: Not tonight. I want to see Expedition 33 win all the awards at The Game Awards. Brain: OK, but it involves a Lord, a highwaywoman, and her roguish lover in your flintlock fantasy universe. Me: Goddammit.

This kills me. Anyone who's ever watched a loved one age into their twilight knows the meaning of that poem. Interpreting it this badly is infuriating.

These evil fucks keep getting shut down by living artists for stealing their work, so now they're going after the dead ones. I hope the ghost of Dylan Thomas never lets you get another good night's sleep.

This is a goddamned amazing piece of writing on Heated Rivalry and what the critics are getting wrong. It’s also a great manual on what is possible to achieve with character development during sex scenes. If you’re not a romance writer, this should be required reading.
