A child molester has died. I am thinking of his victims today.

I've always said that my goal in life is to never to do anything to cause @rtraister.bsky.social to write a scathing article about me. This is the opposite of that.

The Secretary of Education is actually opposed to children being educated

BASH: One of the things that's happening is there's a push to start students down a trade school track as early as elementary school. Is that too early? LINDA McMAHON: I don't think so BASH: But elementary school? McMAHON: I think you can have some introduction of skilled trades in elementary

For some people, realizing we don't know what we're doing might be a source of humility. For others, it is an incentive to be the loudest voice projecting certainty.

An amazing quote from Lindsey Graham in this Atlantic story. It really captures an essential truth about politics that too few people ever really come to terms with. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

By his framing, there has never been a Christian nation in the history of the planet

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

PASTOR LORAN LIVINGSTON (@CentralChurchNC): “There has never been a Christian nation, and never will be. You don’t live in one now. A Christian nation wouldn’t have killed and displaced 20 million Native Americans, or thought owning slaves was pleasing to God.”

If only there was a word to describe the government owning the means of production

Trump: "Intel came in. They had a problem. I said, 'I can solve your problem, but I want 10% of the company' ... somebody said that's not very American. I said, 'No, I think it's very American, actually.' And I've done that with other deals."

Ossoff: "Just think, 250 years on, what the Founders would see if they visited us today. *crowd groans* But wait -- they would see that slavery had been abolished. They would see that Americans without land, and then women, and then the descendants of slaves had secured voting rights ... "

Collins also voted for Gorsuch and Barrett

FOX NEWS: Is your vote for Kavanaugh troublesome for you now that Roe v Wade was overturned? SUSAN COLLINS: Let me make clear that I disagreed with the Supreme Court, but the fact is that whether Justice Kavanaugh was confirmed or not, Roe v Wade would've been overturned

When you see the story about how the world now has its first trillionaire, and when you see the story about how laboratories in Congo have run out of supplies to test for Ebola, it is important to understand that in many ways these are the same story.

George W. Bush made it to Yankee Stadium during the 2001 World Series, weeks after 9/11, and created a powerful moment that amplified the atmosphere in the city and didn't prioritize his appearance above thousands of regular fans. So it can be done. Trump is just choosing not to.

Many of the Americans who landed on the beaches on D-Day were immigrants and the children of immigrants. The "America First" xenophobes who supported the Nazis hated them.

Hegseth uses his D-Day anniversary speech in Franch to take veiled shots at NATO and European immigration policies

It's bitterly ironic because in the 1930s, Hegseth would have been on the side of those closing borders to [[[those]]] trying to escape the Nazis.

I'm sure that the families growing their credit card balances each month to make ends meet are relieved to hear that Capital One is going to be OK

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

BREAM: The Journal says percentage of delinquent credit card balances is 13%, the highest in 15 years. People are using them for necessities. Your message to them? HASSETT: We talk to CEOs of the credit card companies all the time, and there's not any threat to them. People are taking a bit longer.

There is a very important symbolic reason that the inauguration of a US President is on the steps of the Capitol and not a military bunker in the White House. It means that the role of the President, first and foremost, is to enforce the laws passed by Congress.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on his ballroom: "We're gonna have the inauguration here"

Dear Secretary Mullin, Please take this step. Signed, every Democrat running for office

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Markwayne Mullin: "If CBP isn't there processing international flights, then those individuals when the airlines land won't be permitted into the United States. If things don't change, we're gonna have to make this step pretty quick."

Having the personal liberty and freedom to go hungry is also part of the American dream, I guess?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Brooke Rollins: "As we've moved about 4 million off SNAP, we don't have the exact data of how much of that is fraud, how much of that is people moving into the American dream and off of welfare."

narrator: in fact, it was the President who did it

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Tillis on Trump's taxpayer-funded insurrectionist slush fund: "There's no way we're gonna be in a position to fund $1.5 billion for an anti-fraud division when we've got this bogus payout pot for punks. Whoever did it should be fired."

My favorite #BarneyFrank memory #2 was "point of parliamentary inquiry! Will I be out of order if I call the gentlemen from Iowa a fool and a liar?" House chair pro tempore: "yes, you will be out of order." Rep. Frank "then I will not call him a fool and a liar!"

“We have a man who is doing a great job, I’ll tell you. I knew it! Because he kept me out of jail for years. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, he kept me out of jail.” This is not even accurate. Blanche represented Trump in the hush money case. Trump was convicted of multiple felonies.

Donald Trump says America needs a $1.7 billion slush fund to redistribute taxpayer money to pro-Trump felons, including financial criminals and January 6th rioters. His political opponents disagree.
