Someone should ask CBS news commentator and Free Press writer Elliot Ackerman why he hired two PR firms and two law firms, along with other measures, to try to suppress my reporting on him and his CIA mentor. In the meantime, I'm going back to work.

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

When people like Anne Applebaum talk about the far-right they don't mean the Middle East because they exceptionalize the region so much that its developments exist outside time. The region is filled with far-right leaders that she happens to support.

Anne Applebaum@anneapplebaum.wsocial.eu

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

foregrounding popularism here is like foregrounding “originalism” criticizing the Supreme Court. That’s just the flavor text and an occasional justification. It ain’t an accident that those neolib blob weirdos are listened to. Thread gets more to the heart of it later

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...

I understand dunking on the brokehearts but: psst dudes there is a better way. You *will* have to care about other humans but, one weird trick, it makes life better. And you still can "do your own research" as our fake opposition party is structurally against marxism-leninism.

We're all acting like this is such an egregious thing to hear an American military commander say when we just lived through 20 years of them swearing they were "turning a corner" in Afghanistan and the Taliban were totally defeated year after year.

Yikes. In a desperate-sounding video, CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper insists the Strait of Hormuz is “controlled by the United States… not Iran” and “open for business,” despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

An increasingly anxious ruling class, deeply worried about a public that doesn’t listen to them and doesn’t particularly view them as legit, casually wondering if maybe the country needs a lot more big strapping lads in uniform to focus minds on loving the flag and taking instructions, eh

As I’ve said for years: when the right - and particularly the crackpot racist far right - talk about freedom and free speech, they are talking about *their personal, unlimited freedom*. Their freedom permits, and often actively requires, policemen thrashing you in the head with batons.

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

"Sure you could make this concise and accurate statement but instead you should make very specific longwinded criticisms of Israel. Generalisations are unacceptable. No I didn't have any problem with the entire British left being labelled as antisemites, why do you ask?"

George Monbiot@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Many people seem to be passionately attached to the statement “Zionism is racism”. But it seems unnecessary, even gratuitous, to me. We can say all the things we need about successive governments of Israel and their horrific policies without having to make this generalisation.

There is no way to reduce deportations without a substantial defunding of law enforcement in rural areas, who have long operated like a baronial class unto themselves.

This is happening all over rural America. We need to wake up, people. There's no Greg Bovino in his Nazi coat to blow whistles it. It's daily Gestapo-type terror, aided by the banality of evil local cops www.sltrib.com/news/2026/10...

the funny part about this is our foreign policy is so deranged it didn't even rise to the level of "revenge", we just killed millions of randos, engendered more salafism, got our brownshirt program off the ground, etc

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

Could have asked any halfway respectable person who followed stuff like this and known things were going to go real south from the get go. (Some of the analysts probably knew too they just tried/had to float a soothing outlook as long as they could.)
