That's the problem.
Democracies are threatened by "fossil fuel fascism – an extremist political movement that breaks laws, spreads lies and threatens violence" in order to "maintain markets for oil, gas and coal", and of course, "huge sums [...] channelled from the US to support far-right groups in Europe". Noticeably.

Super interesting and it makes sense. AI models have problems predicting extremes outside of their training /pattern recognition of past events and of course as the Earth heats, extremes get more extreme… www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

There are no words in the English language to describe the suicidal self-serving intentional stupidity of these people. They are signing the death warrants of children and grandchildren, their's and ours. For what? To have power over a failing nation and a dying world.

like if you put a product on the market where there’s a non-zero chance that it’s going to “proactively instigate the death by suicide of a child” and lots of people tell you that’s obviously gonna happen and you do it anyway and then it happens,,, how is that not a crime ?
Not sure how I came across this book on Libby, through a late-night hopescrolling search for climate/collapse content?, but I‘m glad. So helpful for me at a time where I’m sadly not in the countryside but a 3rd-floor apt (thankfully with great neighbors). It‘s realistic, empowering, and funny too!

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.
Zelenskyy went into that nest of vipers and roasted them all. Good. They all exposed themselves, they demeaned themselves in a way that was undeniable. Perfect.

Just attending a 3-day workshop on the danger of abrupt ocean circulation changes. Discussions are quite worrying. E.g. in 35 to 45 % of high quality models, convection in the open North Atlantic collapses in the 2030s due to #globalheating. -> Major climate disruption. Not good.
