I did a thread, as usual a few typos but I think it is honest and true. Sadly not one of you commented, so I'm pinning it here so anyone who decides to follow me knows where I stand. bsky.app/profile/bi99...

The West in particular and the world in general is in a parlous stare right now. The imperfect democracies that generally served the people post WW2 have been changing in degrees. Most of us haven't noticed or paid much heed. Unfortunately the forces for change have been the politicians, driven by

I particularly enjoy the thrill of discovering that microsoft have moved, changed, hidden or redesigned something just at that moment when you are deep in the brown stuff, under extreme pressure and need all your capacity to focus on the problem rather than navigate their frankly bizzare changes.

The poorest people in Ireland, have a standard of living 63% higher than the poorest people in the UK. Northern Ireland has to leave the UK, and pursue Irish Unity.

This should give unionists pause for thought, and indeed the British as a whole. It won't of course, they'll all continue being too scared to call out the brexit racists.

Irish Unity@irishunity.bsky.social

Ireland is now significantly wealthier than the UK. Those of us in Northern Ireland must pursue Irish Unity.

Disposable imcome in Ireland is higher than the UK. There is no rational economic arguement for Northern Ireland to remain in the UK. We must pursue a United Ireland.

Doesn’t matter how you voted if you were front and centre in a Brexit government, actively overseeing the shrinking of our economy, our influence and our opportunities, while you rolled around in the trough. We’ll be disregarding everything you now say, thanks.

Private equity buys UK fertility clinics. PE already controls social care, hospitals, GP surgeries, dentistry, child fostering. Usual business model. High debt, quality of care declines, prices increase, high profits. When things go wrong, NHS has to step in, PE doesn't pay.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Israel has imposed a total siege across the occupied West Bank, raiding at least 15 towns, detaining dozens of Palestinians, and forcibly displacing families from their homes.

When the fuck will somebody stand up for the people of Palestine? Where the fuck is Europe? Paralysed by past guilt? That guilt is exactly why they need to step the fuck up in the face of another genocide.

They are both correct. I've been working on this issue professionally (not at DRCC) since around 2018 and the job is tough but simple: you have to communicate the facts as evidenced by mountains of studies and bitter experience. Your job is not to reflect government policy.

UK law requires companies to pay dividends from realized profits, must maintain capital. Law is poorly enforced. Water companies flout it. Carillon abused it. Now Govt proposes that dividends can be paid without capital maintenance. Madness to appease corporations.

The Govt claiming we must drill more fossil fuels so we can use the tax revenues to fund the green transition is about as logical as a doctor telling you to smoke 2 packs a day to raise the money for your lung transplant You don’t put out a fire by pouring on more fuel 🔥#Jackdaw

Government support for drilling at #Jackdaw takes a wrecking ball to any pretence of UK climate leadership & pours fuel on an overheating world - and for what? It’s equivalent to just 2 months of UK gas demand, creates just 27 direct jobs & has *no* impact on energy bills🧵1/4
