Ahead of its 250th birthday, I make the case that the greatest work of American art ever produced is made of garbage and was assembled at the behest of God by a Black man working the night shift as a janitor in DC johnpaulbrammer.substack.com/p/americas-g...
Here's another thing I think, societies tackling this issue need to make resources available (support groups, pamphlets, etc.) to parents who are worried about their kids transitioning. We need to actively counter the propaganda of groups that take advantage of parents' fears and worries.
I figured out what I want for my first novel & the answer is Anastasia in a Broken Masquerade Doomed Timeline, living in a feralpunk B.C., trying to sneak away from being the protagonist, a mentor, & one of the only people who can save the world from her deceased partner.
I am not a subtle writer.
I don't agree with the Conservative platform for B.C., but I agree with the new Conservative premier's statement to act with "every part of the law" to protect residents from hate. Groups like the Second Sons have no place in Canada.

Yep, a further piece of evidence for "people who would have said they were voting NDP (or have in the past) just didn't show up to vote" in numbers quite outside their historic norms

The most difficult part is matching the sample to the population. The sample probably had a variety of voters, but as per your other data, the population of voters featured far fewer NDP voters than I bet the sample anticipated. (And as always their polling tends to not be truly random).
A quick look at whether "the polls" were "right" in this election.
Short answer — they all slightly missed the Conservative wave, and Mainstreet missed the mark on the Green vote.
But overall, this wasn't a major error, and in line with what we've seen in wave elections with last week movement.
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
Eby's defeat should ring as a warning to B.C.'s southern neighbors, particularly Washington. Don't be overconfident, it can be the downfall of you, too.
Dehumanizing people and hardening yourself to your own empathy only moves all of us further to the violent conflict the right wing craves and I refuse to participate in it. You won't catch me making the same mistake twice.
One thing I have learned by hanging out at this furry convention is that folks in my micro generation (Zillennials), absolutely need to be standing up in this moment. Because the upcoming generations are scared. They're inheriting a world that seems to be sliding into hell. Have to give 'em hope.
The Post-Self cycle by @makyo.ink is an (arguably?) thriller in a an immersive simulated world of uploaded, forking, re-integrating, and sometimes diverging consciousnesses.

As a journalist, I’ve covered the anti-trans movement in Canada for almost a decade at this point. There’s a lot of room for change from here.
My advice tonight is that we all slow down, take a big breath, and ready ourselves for the actual fights to come—and don’t panic over the imaginary ones.
And yeah, there’s some alarm bells from what they’ve promised, like repealing SOGI and the parental rights stuff.
But nowhere in their platform is an immediate trans health ban or bathroom bill or anything like that.
Not to say that can’t ever happen.
But it’s definitely not happening tomorrow.
I appreciate passion and support from folks outside of B.C.
But we actually don’t really know what happens next. And stoking necessary fear over hypotheticals is going to hurt the actual organizing that needs to happen to make things better for people here.
Seeing a lot of fear-mongering on my timeline tonight from trans folks and allies outside of B.C.
Yes, this result is what it is. But this is not a “stockpile your HRT now” situation. And I think suggesting people do that is uneccessary and actively harmful to people who actually live here.
The discussion on the Skytrain with a friend this morning was about how this one man committed a historic fumble and how it serves him right, while also admitting that the Conservatives are going to make everything worse. That's the mood right now.
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
I knew this was likely, I try not to get emotional about the desolation of this industry, but Goddess this one fucking hurts. Vale, Bioware. You deserved so much better. So did Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
