Free movement: perhaps. The euro and Schengen: Andy Burnham “can’t imagine recommending” them. So where does that leave Britain’s relationship with the EU? One possible answer lies in Switzerland. eastangliabylines.co.uk/news/brexit/...

Around 120 agreements. Free movement. Dynamic alignment. EU budget contributions. The CJEU as final arbiter on EU law. The Swiss relationship with the EU is rather more interesting than “not a member”. Could Britain follow it? Niall Ó Conghaile reports.

Here is what the 3 principal streets of Glasgow city centre: Argyle St, Sauchiehall St, Buchanan St have looked like for years.

Absolutely, asking for opt outs is the best way to tell the EU that we are not fully committed to the project and that, once inside, we will oppose any progress. Not the signal a future reliable partner will send. Transactional candidates shouldn't even be listened to.

This perfectly illustrates why England will not be joining the EU for decades. Even the supposedly pro-European forces - eg The Guardian - are viciously nativist and chauvinistic. They just won’t let any opportunity go to “pull a fast one”. It is in their DNA.

Spot on. The exceptionalism is off the scale. I’ve seen not a single argument from even the ‘pro-EU’ side actually standing up for the EU: for FoM, for Schengen or the euro, just arguments that the UK wouldn’t really have to join them. 1/3

Remember this regularly renamed great 🇬🇧 British Government initiative to replace the loss of the EU Regional Fund? Future High Streets Fund; Town Deals; Levelling Up Fund; and now Labour's Local Regeneration Fund. It cut out national governments, was a vastly smaller fund - and has mostly failed.

I saw a UK Govt ad today acting like they were doing people a favour by keeping charges of £9.90. Meanwhile, prescription charges were abolished in Wales in 2007, in Northern Ireland in 2010 and in Scotland in 2011. Wake up England! share.google/UNxwTs6eXSss...

U.K. Labour swept to power with an expensive promise: to create an energy company, hand it billions to invest in British renewables and watch it grow, eventually, to rival other state-owned giants. Two years after GBE was founded, that hasn’t happened.

Labour's approach to the climate crisis and energy prices. Jackdaw benefits neither. So what was the point? More profit for fossil fuel companies. Less focus on a just energy transition.
