One's gonna shoot you in the face, and the other's gonna shoot you in the ass. Leftists: Um, I'm not voting for *anyone* who shoots me. Centrists: Well now you're just being unreasonable.

Comfortably Boo@numb.comfortab.ly

You have 3 years. PIck a candidate that is not a transphobic sadist.

I was nominally aware of Hasan Piker for a while, but this weird obsession with him from the right, mainstream news, and corporate Dem has me watching more often. I caught some of his event with Omar, and it's all like "Hey, let's take care of people so they don't die". Normal, nice things.

The list of people the president has raped is bigger than the Cheesecake Factory menu.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Yes, yes, the renewed accusations that the president is a serial rapist and was an active participant in Epstein's pedophilia and sex trafficking would seem alarming, but it doesn't involve the Cheesecake Factory so ...

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

I really don't like being skeptical, but I can see Trump/DOJ stopping all investigations into Omar, and the Dems just going back to business as usual. Patting themselves on the back saying "we won". I hope I'm wrong.

NEWS --> Dems are planning novel ways to wield power of the purse against Trump's corrupt prosecutions of critics like Ilhan Omar if they win House. Reps Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin tell me a range of aggressive tactics will be deployed. Details in my new piece: newrepublic.com/article/2171...

newrepublic.comTrump’s Vile Prosecution of Ilhan Omar Is About to Run Into a WallIf they retake the House, Democrats will have plenty of ways to act against Trump’s corrupt prosecutions. Pramila Jayapal and Jamie Raskin say they’re going to use them.

Possible reasons Dems keep doing this: 1. Advisors are ops, and they've been duped 2. They've been Twitter-pilled and have broken brains 3. They just aren't very smart 4. Their hatred for trans people is just that bad (see #2) If 1, fire them & apologize. The others mean you don't deserve the job

This post is unavailable.

I will never understand the mindset behind this. No Republican is voting for a Democrat because of their anti-trans thoughts. All you're doing is angering people who now won't be inclined (rightly) to vote for you. Just say nothing. The fact they can't do that shows their true inner hatred.

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

And mind you, I voted for Talarico while mumbling "fuck you" under my breath. But at least his shitty video clips were because of an interview. He hasn't proactively produced anti-trans ads (that I'm aware of).

Sometimes I wish I got a degree in journalism, then worked my way up to being in the press pool, just so I could ask "Do you denounce child rape?" of the VP.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

WOW -- Vance *defends* Vivek's reprehensible ad 👇 Q: Ramaswamy's campaign put out a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother. Some Republicans are backing away. Do you think it was appropriate? JD VANCE: Well, I'll be honest. Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern.

Every Republican who has not called for Trump's resignation is complicit, and should never hold office or be taken seriously ever again. Banished from all media and anything related to governance.

This might be the first murder she DOESN'T justify.

Trevon Logan@trevondlogan.bsky.social

Since the video is self explanatory they are moving to a discussion of tone. They do this while refusing to admit that Tommy is a conservative operative, and in no way an “innocuous person at the town hall.” These are deeply and fundamentally unserious people.

Unfortunately there are people who care about trans people having rights who are not trans people themselves and I’m sure that the number will suddenly grow exponentially post election when candidates have lost and you’re looking for someone to blame that isn’t the candidates themselves

Saw the Musk documentary, and it's very well done. At some point, some one will need to reckon with the fact that Kara Swisher happily propped (props?) up the worst people and has benefitted from it. But we can do that later.

Yes, I will vote for Talarico. But when I'm doing it, I'll be giving him the biggest double-middle-fingers. Then immediately start looking for someone who can primary him in 6 years.

I'll just say, if someone was wanting to criminalize "white dude independent journalists" but was great on literally everything else, I would not chastise you for not voting for them. Your "purity politics" might be someone else's life.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

I would venture to say that merely posting over there is a political statement. Intentional or not. You can say "I'm just buying a COUCH from Pol Pot. That doesn't mean I support his actions" all you want, but you're still giving money to Pol Pot.

Anil Dash@anildash.com

I just think it's dishonest to say that the politics are unavoidable on other platforms, but they are on X. Its *point* is its politics; you're just saying they exist at a level you find palatable. The guys who doxed my family aren't on the other platforms; they're followed by staff members on X.

All good news, but I wonder how trustworthy these polls are. Anecdotally, I have a brother-in-law who has just stopped talking about politics, and went from Ted Cruz/Trump/etc yard signs every two years to nothing. I guarantee he will still vote for Paxton. Is there an "ashamed right" to consider?

GOP consultants are falling over each other to make the most dire pronouncements about the party's midterms fate. “If the bottom continues falling out like it has been, this will be worse than 2006,” a nat'l GOP strategist says. Dems gained 31 seats in '06. talkingpointsmemo.com/morning-memo...

Pretty sure this is all Twitter-pilled people. You have centrist Dems demanding a more forceful condemnation of Hasan Piker (weird thing to focus on) and progs claiming they all want him to lose because he's anti-Zionist. In the real world, people are just doing their things.

I know there's a ton of shit happening everywhere, but the easy access to online gambling is what I'm predicting will cause the most immediate harm to the greatest number of people in the US. Without regulation, I predict personal bankruptcy will exceed medical by a LOT.

ProPublica@propublica.org

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

They can't help themselves. They lie by saying he "entered illegally." He entered with DHS permission under the CBP One program. Literally waited for an appointment to become available and entered with his appointment exactly as the U.S. government told him he should.

And Talarico not having a statement yet is a bit maddening. Like, you're just going to say "independent investigation" or some pointless shit, so why not release the statement last night?

Boycott Society@boycottsociety.bsky.social

www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news... Notice how APD Chief says there was a "foot pursuit", and now we get video showing him being taken from his car. They always lie.

The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning. As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.

56% of US Jews agree with Hasan Piker? I'd be curious to see the wording. What does "pro-Israel" mean? I mean, if it's a desire for Israeli citizens to live in peace, then I think any normal person agrees.

But is that agreeing it's fine to take houses and land from others by force? Or does that fit into the anti-Bibi sentiment? And how about Gazan self-governance? Or allowing West Bank residents freedom to move around the country? I can't imagine pro-Israel means pro *anything* Israel does.

As a pragmatic centrist, I read the Niemöller poem differently. After each group mentioned I pencil in what percentage of the population they are, and if it’s a small number I cross off their names as disposable. Poetry is fine but math wins elections!!

I've always despised Johnson, but I thought his beliefs were at least come by honestly. Seeing him cow-tow to Trump at every turn, and so brazenly, has been so surprising. This man has no soul.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: At what point does Congress step in and address the Iran war? MIKE JOHNSON: It's not a war. They're trying to resolve an operation -- Operation Epic Fury, which was an epic success. I don't think we need liberal Marxist Democrats telling the commander in chief what to do w/the military right now

This is exactly the fear people have when hearing AOC is talking with MAHA people. It's fine to talk about whatever common cause you have, but NEVER give them a platform or include them in your spaces. Luckily AOC hasn't done that yet... But Bernie's doing it with one of the worst Americans ever.

Late to this, but - no. You never share a stage with Bannon. No no no. He’s a lying Nazi trying to curbstomp what’s left of democracy. Any organization that invites him can’t be trusted. Plus he is riddled with lice and other parasites. Big fuckup by Sanders. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/15/u...

I want to be hopeful, but we've been here many times. Young folk always skew Dem/progressive by a lot, but then don't actually vote. Will it be different this time, during a midterm? I truly hope so.

Ana Marie Cox@anamariecox.com

New poll in Texas has Hinojosa up on Abbott by 49-45 and you can quote me on this: holy fucking shit. sri.siena.edu/2026/09/17/h... Just a snapshot, things can change! Polling average has Abbott just +3. But +3 is itself a holy shit number, too.

Trump: "We spent more than $2 billion in FEMA funding. You're waiting for some additional funding. I'm gonna get that to you. Now if Michael loses, I'm not sending it." Crowd: *groans*

Exactly. Factory owners in the early 1900s knew they were causing people harm, but being one of the "good ones" would've meant going out of business. It took laws like FLSA or even Sherman to get everyone on the same playing field. Need the same thing for AI

Matthew Gertz@mattgertz.bsky.social

I'm a little confused by the argument that if the AI CEOs were REALLY concerned they'd shut down their servers -- isn't "businessmen continue selling product they know is bad for society because it is extremely lucrative" a pretty common story?
