Wildwood is phenomenal. I’m not usually a huge fan of stop-motion animation, but this one is wildly impressive creative and technical achievement. I’m happy I saw it in theaters and I hope lots of other people do, too.

If you wondered whether a 7 year-old who never played Wii Sports can experience the same magic of flailing around in motion-controlled tennis with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, the answer is: Yes. There’s something weirdly nostalgic about it.

Sports Resort also avoids the main problem Mario Kart World had in our house. You can actually do the free roam stuff with two players.

My 7 year-old needs to do a school research project on someone culturally important who is no longer alive. He wanted someone involved with video games, and I mentioned Gunpei Yokoi as an option. Any of my gaming historian friends have favorite books or YouTube videos we could check out together?

(Side note: He's in second grade so the stakes aren't super high. He's making a short presentation, not writing a thousand word paper.)

Note to self: Maybe check the dimensions of the thing you’re going to 3D print before you start it. (It’s fine, being bigger will make for a better presentation prop for my son, and he loves it.)

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare. We've made that feature available online following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/2026...

This is really depressing news, and I hate that instead of it being a huge shock that everyone is reeling from there is instead a sense of "Well, yeah, this industry sucks right now, so this checks out."

Is it because he's a famous actor? The one you mention in the copyright notice on the screenshot? I guess I'll never know because I don't have three minutes to read this.

I don't back a *ton* of crowdfunding campaigns these days (though the list has grown some since I got back into tabletop games), but I'm not joking when I say that *four* Kickstarters I was following all launched today. RIP my wallet.

One of those projects is the Myst book trilogy re-release, which already looks to be very successful. These novels are genuinely great, IMHO. I have re-read The Book of Atrus multiple times over the weekend. I already have both soft and hardcover copies of the books, but I'll probably back anyway.

It’s finally slightly cooler than the surface of the sun in Texas, which makes it feel like a perfect time to curl up with a point-and-click adventure on the @play.date. So far Houm is scratching the itch well.

Happy to see my friends at Giant Bomb getting subscription love by saying things like "If enough of you subscribe then one of us will play a bunch of Minesweeper on camera."

Anyone in Chicago wanna go to tonight's Chrono Trigger orchestrated performance? I can't make it work, happy to sell/transfer the tickets at face value. DM me if interested.

If we're going to get AI viruses in our smart ovens then we at obviously need to shift to a future where school kids can fight them with a carefully curated deck of battle chips like in Mega Man Battle Network.

I trust Tyler's assessment of Netflix's Narnia sneak peek (even though I burn with envy that I wasn't invited to see Stephen Colbert chat with Greta Gerwig).

On Tuesday morning, I took a Stairway to Heaven for a little Q+A with Greta Gerwig and Stephen Colbert about the big Narnia movie. Here are my takeaways. sojo.net/articles/cul...

Richard B. Gray - LEVELORD 11/15/1957 - 10/12/2026 Just heard the news that an old friend of mine has passed on. Richard Gray - aka Levelord has departed the planet. I know he's dealt with cancer on and off for awhile now, a word that I cannot stand. Word comes from his wife Olga.

The kids look great. Uncle Andrew seems great. The creation of Narnia looks visually very interesting. I think there’s a lot there that will work.

The “AI game remake” trend kind of feels like a Napster moment for the industry, in that it threatens to permanently devalue a remake/remaster in players eyes as a thing you get for free. And considering that AAA is really coasting on remakes right now, seems bad!

If you've never played Pony Island the spooky month of October is a great time. Incredible game to just give away.

Y'all either need to stop making me want to play Star Wars: Galactic Racer right now or give it to me as an early gift before my birthday next week.

I've listened to a lot of stuff lately about how the future of "content" (particularly on the internet) is supposed to be personalized. That things should be "liquid" and conform to the reader. I feel like that totally misses the point of most of the things I want to engage with.

It feels genuinely ridiculous having to say this, but the point of art is to connect with another human. Someone thought of that painting or melodic line or scene or paragraph that is suddenly making you weep, and that means that they saw you and understood you without even meeting you.

Turns out the bulk of this seems to be coming from the End Poem that plays when you beat Minecraft (I’m a fake gamer who’s only ever beat the Ender Dragon in creative mode so I was unfamiliar), but it’s still a bizarre thing to see here jumbled up with the government stuff.

Britton Peele@brittonpeele.com

Confirmed this myself and was met with the depressing information that even in this extremely bizarre land of hallucinated Minecraft I still need to bring two forms of ID, because I am alive.

Damn, America.gov, I just wanted to play Minecraft: “The constituent is growing restless. The session is about to time out. I will tell the constituent a story. But not the truth.”

If you're way into the story/world of Control Resonant and want more of that in book form, I really enjoyed reading "There Is No Antimemetics Division" earlier this year and think the vibes are on a similar wavelength.

I get that I should have bought and started installing Control Resonant earlier today instead of waiting until I wanted to play it tonight, but it’s still a bummer that the “Ready to Play” status on PS5 means “You can play for about 10 minutes, then you’ve gotta wait again.”

I don't like setting my fantasy football lineups, either. This is why I have made the crucial decision to not sign up for any fantasy football leagues.

I have a lot of feelings about this and most of them aren't great. I'd love for someone to come rescue Arkane and Ninja Theory, but with the state of the industry as a whole right this second... Man... A lot of books will be written about this specific rise and fall period of Microsoft.

Narnia means a lot to me, and I have a lot of faith in Greta Gerwig. The "rock opera" touchstone is interesting. but I'll let her cook. (And she's right, Narnia was *literally* [in-fiction] made with singing.) Also, this image of Charn (I assume) looks cool. 🤷‍♂️

EXCLUSIVE 🪩 Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is a rock inspired fantasy nodding to David Bowie and The Who. “Narnia is literally a world made out of music,” she tells Empire. “And rock ’n’ roll to me felt like a world made out of music.” Read more: www.empireonline.com/movies/news/...
